i think this could be interesting, some people sometimes have some "strange choices!

it would be good with pictures, some of us aren't old enough to remember most of them in the flesh!

anyhoo, here are my 5 picks, in reverse order.

5- 1988 McLaren MP4-5 Honda (possibly the most dominating car ever)
198815012_hkurata_2.jpg

4- 1987 Lotus 99T Honda

3- 1976 Tyrell P34 Ford (most original F1 car ever?)

2- 1980 Ferrari 312T5 (it looked so arkward, it had to work! had to get a shot of Gilles, of course!)

and the #1...
1978 Lotus 79, with the timeless John Player Special paint scheme.

Okay, here's mine.

1990 Tyrrell Ford - the start of the high nose revolution

1992 Ferrari - yeah, it was a slow dog, but it was gorgeous, and who can forget Alesi flogging the brains out of the poor thing in the wet in France

1978 Lotus 78/79 - the ground effects era, and the genius of Colin Chapman
(see photo in above post)

1966-67 Brabham Repco - yes, predominantly because of patriotic reasons, but a great example of simplicity being a virtue.

1950 Alfa Romeo - thanks to a contact in the local industry, I got a really close look at this car last time it was in Australia. The guys from this era were genuinely insane. It is a beautiful car, though.

Drifting in a F1, thats something I've never seen....

See if you can get hold of video of Senna at Donington in 1994 - and remember, this is in a car with traction control!

Senna could do anything....... I wish I was old enough to remember his races....... And traction control is for wimps, FEATHER THE THROTTLE YOU IDIOTS!!!!

He was a genius. I remember in '88 chatting to a girl in high school who thought he was gorgeous - I said right then 'I reckon he'll die at the wheel of a grand prix car'.

Man, May 1 1994 that one came right back to bite me. When I saw the footage of the blood next to the car I remembered saying that...

I can remember watching him a little bit, me and my dad would watch the racing every night at 6pm (pre-recorded) but I was 7 when that happened, I dont think they played it. Im pretty sure with todays technology, Schumi would definately have less championships under his belt if senna had survived.

Gotta go with black on this one guys.

Jordan 191-Ford: 1991
08032_rn.jpg

There aren't as many graceful designs today as there were in the early-90's. Jordan's first F1 car was the most beautiful all season. Reason enough to make me a Jordan fan.

Hesketh 308-Ford: 1974-76
08024brn.jpg

Before sliding skirts and ground effects made F1 cars look hideous, Lord Hesketh was spending the family fortune on his own F1 team. Sponsorship wasn't necessary...making the car look even better.

Alfa Romeo 158/159: 1938-40, 1947-48, 1950-51
02034_XX.JPG

The car to beat after WWII ended, but Ferrari would rise to the challenge. A time machine of sorts; 1930's styling racing in the early-1950's.

Ferrari 156: 1961-62
02001_RN.JPG

The "sharknose" Ferrari was the pace-setter of the 1.5 liter formula's begining. An absolute shame that all of these 156's were destroyed for one reason or another. Hauntingly beautiful...if that makes any sense.

March CG891-Judd: 1989
198902015_sibo_.jpg

An evolution of the competitive 1988 challenger, the '89 car was slow and unreliable. The turquoise color made the car look more like a dolphin than a racing car. Beautiful, but slow.

Hey! Using Villeneuve images don't count...too easy!

Great site.

Yeah, when was Gill V. ever not drifting?!???!?
I seems every image of him driving into or out of a turn he was drifting, sliding, or spinning.
