Sprite, can I suggest this for a screen shot instead of Grab?

Command + Shift + 3 for a full desktop screen shot and it'll automatically save the screen shot to your desktop. And I think it's Command + Shift + 4 for a selected area of a screenshot

cheers, will remember that for next time but grab allows me to play with the dock while taking a snapshot.
