Damn, I wish I had my vote back. You're right, MazKid.

Why do you have to open the front door before you can open the back door on the RX8? That seems silly. I think Mazda said it was something about safety, but if you're upside down in the back seat in a ditch and the car's on fire, you'd want to get out, right?
 
Because the rear door has a built in pillar, much like a normal 4-door, and the front door closes ontop of the pillar. It strengthens the roof a lot.

It's the same with that 3 door Saturn SC whatever. It's a safer design. Also the front door has to have something to lock to.

That make sense?
