With a rear end that reminds of the spied Supra at the Ring this new Lexus is supposed to be prolougue to the approach in styling expected from future Lexus models. The engine is said to be less than 5.0 liters (4.5 or 4.7?) with 500 horses. The chances of a version being produced are said to be great though will it be toned to closer to the LS or just above it? Just introduced at the NAIAS see an article at MSN Autos

Looks great 👍 , but they messed up the rear end of it. :ill:

500 horsepower is a lot, so that's cool. :D

EDIT: That car must be that fast, because if I'm not mistaken, those look like Venturi tunnels at the (messed up :ill: ) rear.

That obviously looks like the car seen testing 'round the Nurb. whats up with the fans on thr rear vents?!

I like how you can see fan blades through the rear vents. Very racecarish. :)

P.S. I hope this is a sign of things to come, 'cause this is just plain beatiful. Some of the concepts Lexus has had of late have been ugly, but they got this one right.

Magazines sure they didn't catch the new Lexus supercar instead of the Supra? :sly:

I love the design. Looks extremely fast. Great thing about about supercars is their designs. Since they need to be made to take the air flow, they take the shape of a unique car.

Let's hope it stays this forever.

Am I the only person here who dislikes the way the car looks? I think it looks like something out of a bad sci-fi movie.

pimp racer
I was hoping it would be a Supra but oh well!
It still could be? the Skyline,350Z, and G35 and Fairlady all are basic clones of each other now.Would not be surprised if a toned down version as a Supra?? 💡

I'll give it an B-. Headlights seems to sit too low, parts of rear ends are kind of weird too.

It looks pretty awful...I would never buy something like that. People say they don't like the new C6, but compare them and this is hideous.

Hmmm...It's not ugly per se...but, it could look a lot better. A concept is only supposed to lfare out design cues that can later be used to distinguish the brands cars later on. I don't mind it.

I'm guessing the engine will be the same that is predicted to go in the Toyota Supercar... a V10 50 Valve VTT-i Engine... I'm disappointed that Toyota is building such an over the top car... and I am a huge fan of Toyota... but recently... with the discontinuing of the MR-s and the Celica... but then planning to produce a car that will cost over 100 grand... its just not right...

And what's not right about it? If anything this is exactly what they could use. I'm a huge fan of Toyota too, but a supercar would be just dandy. It would have to look good tho. Most of Toyota's cars are kind of bland, but perfectly attractive.

Its just they are shafting those of us that love small, lightweight 4 cylinder cars... that, and I will never buy a car that costs anywhere near that much - ever.

I'd rather they keep the Celica and the MR-S and screw the supercar.

I'm failing to see the "Supra" part of the car. Where is it?

It looks like a 350Z had a love child with a Cadillac STS and this is what popped out.

You're looking for the Honda department. Walk about 20 out of your door, hop in your car, drive 50 miles to the airport, get a flight to Japan, and take a cab to the nearest plant.

Gas money: $2.00
Flight Ticket: $500.00
Honda Civic: $17,000.00
Watching someone fly to Japan becuase they love 4cyls: Priceless.

That's pretty funny, but seriously, I agree with Azuremen.

I drive Altima 2.5s and it handles like ****, but the engine is great. 4 cylinder engines are so economical, but they can also be pretty powerful these days. I bet my 2.5s engine in a small sports car would be a blast to drive, and Sentra SE-R & 2.5s should be a lot of fun also(pretty ugly though).

The MR2 is far from a good car. It's handling is mediocre, the power is nonexistant, and the price is laughable. Toyota knows this, recognizes that the customers see it (which is why they arent buying any), and so they're scrapping it.

I think Azure was talking about the previous gen MR2s. Everyone knows the last gen of MR2s were complete and utter crap for the reasons you listed.

Yeah, but the current MRS has something going for it; all the body panels are bolted on, not welded, riveted, bonded or any other hard to remove method. As such, they are easy to remove and replace with aftermarket pieces. I've seen some very nice kits that make the car look like a classic Italian sports car. True, it's something that a very small very portion of buyers will ever tap into, but still cool. 👍

I didn't know that. Cool!

sounds cool. yeah it looks exactly like the new "supra" or whatever its supposed to be. i dont think they should soil the supra's name by making a MR V10 car.....it would be like making the next civic a RR one seater. although im glad the japanese companies are done with their stupid lies/gentlemens agreement.

I don't see why everyone calls this car the "Next Generation Supra", when the only thing it shares in common with the Supra is the front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout...

Different engine, different design, different badge, different price bracket.

LF-A != Supra.

if you look under the rear end brakelights inside the grill you can see little fans  :boggled:   and it will never be made, it looks to modern ferrari crossed with something fron I,ROBOT. never
