It's a concept, obviousely on drivable versions they will have taken measures to aviod that happening.

i'm guessing the fans are going to generate downforce (via suction) or something?

i seriously doubt it...but what else could they be for? brake cooling?

Driftster
It could be for the "oo we're lexus and we think we're great but we're really rebadged toyota's" factor.

yeah, but that still doesn't offer anything productive to my question.

I think they are to suck air out from under the car and improve cornering as a result. And Driftster, Lexus' won't just be rebadged Toyota's by the time that comes out, they will be their own brand with their own range of cars.

Does anyone know if it's going to be only produced by Lexus? That doesn't make sense. Why would Toyota put the $ & Time into producing a "supercar" that Toyota can't compete with for their factory team....If it makes production it'll more than likely see a toyota based sister car, that will be lighter/faster....OR..identical.

This car I think may end up a Toyota, they want it to tie in with the F1 programme, but Toyota have stated thatLexus will be using it's own model lineup and not re-badged Toyota's in the near future.

I like it how in that little spy vid at Nurburgring the Prototype pulls out behind a Supra.

I could be wrong - but are there no Lexus in Japan - aren't they badged just as Toyotas? - i thought Lexus was a US/European badge, like US only Acura or Infinity? - If a version of this concept does get released it probably would be badged as a Toyota Supra in Japan and a Lexus...... whatever else where in the world.

Lexus was never sold in Japan, but They are going to start or have started now selling the Lexus brand in Japan (2005 or 2006 not sure).

Toyota intends to sell some of their cars in Japan under the Lexus nameplate, which will likely confuse the heck out of Japanese Aristo (GS), Windom (ES), and Harrier (RX) owners when it's time to service or trade-in their cars.

I'm not holding my breath for the arrival of the LF-A just yet, although "Lexus GT500" has a nice ring to it. My estimation is that if sales and demand for the new IS350 (fall-2005/winter-2006) are brisk, then Toyota can gauge the need for the LF-A in the NA market.
