Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept unveiled at Detroit.

“This is our vision for a new kind of flagship vehicle that embraces crossover capability without giving up the performance and luxury delivered by today’s top sedans,” said Kevin Hunter, president, CALTY Design Research. “The LF-1 Limitless concept incorporates imaginative technology while creating a strong emotional connection by improving the human experience for the driver and passengers.”

They're going overboard with that front grille now... Except for that, I think it looks fantastic.

I don't mind the grille, if only because it always gets toned-down somewhat for production and, in some places, has a front license plate to break it up a little. Lexus has one of the strongest styling identities of any company right now - a lot of brands are defined only by the grille, but even if Lexus didn't do the "spindle" thing its cars would still be instantly recognisable.

I hate that squinty eye headlights design and the idea that I can be seeing more of it after Jeep realized it was crap and got rid of it is irritating as hell.

This coming just months after I believe Akio saying they’re not going to push a LFA successor just because. :boggled: Either way, the LC F has all the tools to carry out this goal if they choose to. There’s nothing set as exact facts about its performance; all we know is that it’ll be a faster LC which already has nearly 500hp and a design that spiritually relates itself it to the LFA.

But, I’m hearing rumors a LC convertible is in discussion and possibly, may be pushed to be unveiled first.

A convertible feels inevitable, but it always makes me sigh a little. I've nothing against open-topped cars - in fact, I quite like them - but turning such a stunning coupe into an equally desirable soft-top never really works very well, particularly with modern cars that tend to have fairly high belt-lines making them look quite slab-sided as convertibles.

My understanding from the source is that Lexus is considering it merely based on them feeling like the open-top market is worth jumping into.

On our side of things though, they've stopped selling and we're not very focused on getting any more in. The Black Panther "Edition" should move a few units but it's limited anyway; what everyone is waiting for is the F.

I've never noticed that the left and right doors on the LC look so different from each other inside! I understand why that's the case as the passenger side has far fewer controls but it looks a bit odd to me, especially as one side is yellow and black and the other is yellow and white/cream.

We currently don't have a LC We've got another red coming in about a month. We got one of RC-F 10th anniversary specials with the matte finish paint yesterday. I think I would rather have the LC than this particular RC-F.

I’d go as far as to have a normal RC-F. The 10th Anniversarys are cool, but they’re going to be a pain to keep clean. Lexus advises using only water and with a soft spray on the paint, and then you have gloss black wheels which will get caked in brake dust.

This thing should sell very well it’s first couple years. Been a lot of inquiries for when a new convertible would be made.

I guess to put in the mechanisms for the power roof, sacrifices to the rear passenger legs had to be made?

I don't recall the seats being that close to the front seats.

Looks good, but I think I was right a few posts further up when I said it wouldn't look as good as the coupe. Removing the roof puts more emphasis on how tall the body is, it removes the rear roofline and window graphic...

...and gives it that slightly awkward expanse of space on the rear deck that many coupes-turned-convertibles have. The GT86 convertible concept a few years back had similar issues, but the LC at least looks better to start with.

It'll probably sell well though. There's a reason manufacturers do this even though the cars never look quite right.

Agreed. This is one of my favorite coupes around....and least favorite convertibles.

They’re gorgeous cars but Lexus is taking a page right out of the exotic playbook; offer the same car in a unique combo. that you can’t order yourself and limit production. Boom, that’s 100 units easily moved bc these actually manage to attract buyers.
