Ugh, Hallandale Beach. The man received mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before coughing up seawater and poutine.

1. This is why hiring Private companies to do everything can be stupid.
2. The company policy would be to stop stupid law suits.
3. His company should be using this as an advertisement, not this.
4. I hope the drowning man is a Billionaire that can help him out.

1. If it weren't for that company, there would be no lifeguard on duty. I live there.
2. It's not a lawsuit, it's just a stupid company.
3. Agreed.
4. Probably not. More likely a fat old man from Montreal or Poughkeepsie. The kid is just a lifeguard anyway. It's not like this is his career.

1. We have paid Lifeguards, but we don't have the Tea Party.
2. If someone did drown in his Section then a lawsuit would ensue.

The other lifeguards who have quit have done the right thing. Whoever is hiring the company to supply lifeguards (the city?) should fire the company. This is how the marketplace works.

And if the man would have died they would have bitched about how no one did anything.

You are right. What should he have done? Maybe he should have called the Police on his phone and just sat there. Then he could be regretting that decision for the rest of his life after the guy drowned.

Unless your the guy flicking the switch on the electric chair, you probably should not be fired for saving a life. That is what this guy has trained for. This is just so stupid.

What does this have to do with the Tea Party? :odd: There aren't lifeguards there unless they're employed by a company for the property. The lifeguard on duty did his job and the problem isn't because of the fact that he was employed privately, it's because the company is handling the situation in an entirely backwards way.

So this is private property he works on? I didn't know that.

The article said it. The lifeguards at the company are assigned sections of the beach and because this lifeguard went off his section of the beach to save somebody he got fired for breaking that rule.

Being allocated sections of the beach does not make it private property. It could just be outsourced.

Something's seriously wrong when following the rules is more important than saving a human life.

Follow up story says the owner of the company offered him, another 2 who were fired for supporting him and another 4 who quit in support their jobs back. Not sure about the other ones but he said no and good for him. Management should be fired not him...

The city also said it is a requirement they aid those in and outside their sections while on duty so he was actually only doing his job properly in the first place. Unbelievable anybody would think he should be fired for that.

Yeah I saw that. Good for him, I wouldn't want my job back their either if you're going to fire me for saving someones life.
