Limited Edition & regular edition?

no difference in price, just in the preorder. If you preorder the game you will get the limited with 3 more cars and 40 more events. If you'll buy it after the release without preorder you'll get the standard game with the content on the official site, no 40 events. The price is the same, basically the game is the same, is just the preorder that makes a difference.

I went for the limited with the preorder.

Is that really true? Or is the whole first shipment of Shift going to be in the limited edition packaging, allowing in-store purchases on/around launch day?

I'd hate to be forced to preorder shift 2 on blind faith so I can get additional cars/events, and I don't feel that EA/SMS is doing a good job addressing the fairly widespread handling concerns prior to release.

In Portugal, both are the same price. I THINK when you pre-order you get a psn code that unlocks the extra cars and events.

Hot Pursuit had a similar deal, and all the early release stock was limited editions. For several weeks even, if I recall.

You're obviously taking your chances on that happening again, but I would have said the odds are pretty high. Or preorder at a shop somewhere but tell them you're going to be out of town for a week or so. Pick it up a week later if you like, or cancel if you don't.

I pre-ordered it, just as I do with almost all games I am interested in. Since I live in the middle of nowhere with no game stores within 50 miles....Amazon is a trusted friend ;).

This preorder is "early access to" said content. Either way, I got so fed up tonight with what PD did with GT5, Wifey Pooh will be stopping at GameStop on the way to work. Getting my face spat on after truly enduring the 4 hour MX-5/Miata/"Roadster" event with innept prize credits, POS car I will never use, and anorexic XP points, kinda really pissed me off about GT5. I'm really hoping Shift 2 won't be another let down like 1 was. Realized this after I bought it by doing a GameFly "keep it".

I'm sticking my neck out and buying both NTG and Shift 2. Primary reasons are SMS is involving pro racers to help get the physics and presentation right. While Eutechnix has contracted Richard Towler to help get NTG right. I'm banking on these two sims making up where GT5 is lacking.

Both studios have been very open during the development process. Each has multiple dev diaries on FaceBook & YouTube. The same cannot be said for PD during GT5's 6 years of development.

UPS is way too inconsistent with delivery times for me. Depending on which truck it gets on, packages will get here before noon or after 4! GameStop opens at 10 everyday.
