Some more information:
The Lincoln Continental Mark III (not related to the 1958 Continental Mark III) was a personal Luxury car made between 1968 and 1971.
It was largely based on the 5th gen Ford Thunderbird, which kept development cost down, and competed with the Cadillac Eldorado.
It was a more conventional luxury car than the progressive front-wheel-drive Eldorado, being a simple
body on frame construction with rear-wheel-drive. The Styling payed homage to luxury cars of the past, with a long nose featuring a Rolls-Royce style front grille, concealed headlamps like the Cord 810/812 from the 1930's and a short deck with a fake spare tire hump inspired by it's direct predecessor, the 1956 Continental Mark II. It was also the first american car to have Michelin Radial Tires as standard, and one of the first production cars to be available with an anti-lock-brake system called "Sure Track" which applied to the rear wheels only, first as an option, and as standard equipment for the 1971 model year.
