I wish thrustmaster would do better compatibility with consoles, I mean it's 2024 & we still can't plug handbrakes or other equipment directly into usb ports, it has to be plugged directly in the wheel base or you have to buy their hub.

Also why is there no app type thing available for consoles like the control center you get on PC I mean they have an app for their crap e-swap controller so why not Sim equipment so we can fine tune stuff instead of relying on in game settings.

As suspected - without t-dfb the T598 is a downgrade from T-GT. The information t-dfb gives on grip through vibration on whole rig is unmatched.

Im also starting to have suspisions, that PDI is nerfing Thrustmaster and Logitech in GT7 due to the Fanatec affiliation. This is why these official partnerships are bad for the community. I hope my T-GTs t-dfb doesn't just "happen" to stop working once they update the game..

Reading these reviews and comments I thought maybe i'll start with a used T-GT II but they are basically the same price as a new T598 and new they are over $1K CDN with worse pedals than the T598.

WIld stuff.

From the reviews online the T-GT II is by far the better wheel.
Right but it is 60% more than the price of the T598 and with the basic pedal set so need to improve that too. All I'd be at just $800 for the T598 and well over $1300 (CAD) for the GTII. I can't justify that big a price gap, I need to just hope they improve the software on the 598 on GT7.

If they will not improve T598 FFB with software, then its not worth it. TGT is far better. Played on both.
"worth it" I am sure but tbh i can only justify so much spend on this rig build before it gets silly for a video game.

I am faced with the following options for GT7 in $CAD basically;

  1. New T598 with decent pedals for $785 with 2 yrs warranty
  2. Fanatec 8nm with decent pedals for $800 used
  3. TGII with T3PA base pedals for $750 used or $900 for an open box unit with load cell pedals
  4. T300RS with TCLM Load cell) pedals for $450 used
Edit/Update: I think I am out on the T598, I spoke to a guy on a used marketplace and he went from TG-2 to T598 and returned the 598.

Still verdict "well its not a T-GT" - even with the DD Pro. If Thrustmaster would have gone with 8nm +t-dfb the story would be very different. So if your main game is GT or Playstation in general T-GT is your choice. There propably will be few on used market as T598 are more available to order, but I guess due to price T-GT never sold huge numbers, and thus the market is limited. Happy hunting..

If it wasn't for the cooling and many QC issues with the T300RS i'd lean towards starting there with load cell pedals and see how the DD markey matures but I keep reading horror stories on over heating and luck of the draw on QC.
