LM Ultimate PC Game

I'm trying, honestly, but I'm still deeply scared from NASCAR Ignition.
Well, if nothing else this is a little closer to Studio 397's wheelhouse.

Bit surprised to notice the Steam overall reviews is now "Mostly Positive." And glad for it. Will give it a go myself when I can.

Initial thoughts after a quick play around for an hour, pleasantly surprised.
There's definitely something there. Whether it will be fully realized or not is an entirely different matter.

How'd you find taking the Hypercars for a spin?

Not had enough time to make a final judgment, but they are fun once you get the tyres up to temp. I've not tried the GTe's yet, but the LMP2 is great fun, spent a couple of hours with that last night and loved it.

Completely off topic but now you're back (and welcome back for that matter 👍) did you ever have an issue with the vibration settings (not ffb settings) feeling like a dull whine as if your motor was broken using your T300 on WRC 10?

Thanks, and in answer to the question, nope can't recall having that issue.

Good to see you back, I enjoy your no ******** approach to your sim reviews.

Got a funny feeling it's a combination issue that I'm dealing with, no issues with thrustmaster on ps or pc & no issues with logitech or fanatec on xbox, so I'm stuck with the only combination that buggered.

My quick review of the early access

I'd have liked to see you exit the Porshe curves at Le Mans (just as you go over the road bridge) as that's a bugbear of the outdated map we have in GT7.

I don't even have a gaming PC but I might purchase this on Steam just for the discount. Here's hoping it popular enough to make its way to consoles

The first true patch (rather than hotfixes) is out on Steam and seems to mainly be optimisation and bug squashing.

Well went ahead and picked this up, hopefully i can get some time this weekend or next to dive in. I'm probably reaching but want some the magic feel I got when I played Le Mans 24 Hours on Dreamcast and PS2.

Motorsport Games CEO Stephen Hood hints at PS5 Pro support for Le Mans Ultimate in the future.
It’s heartening to hear how many people want a console version, and this is something we still target but can’t share anything concrete yet,” Hood said in a September update video. “We know our advanced simulation can run on current consoles, and with the recent announcement of PlayStation 5 Pro, we have plans to leverage this performance in the future. But right now, our focus is on continuing to develop a solid PC simulation.”

"We know we can run LMU on console", Hood told OverTake. "The PS5 Pro enables us to take that to the next level of what we are planning and also improve visual fidelity. We are talking about the kinds of races with 60-plus cars in it - and if we have our way with additional content and do all sorts of classics - that is a lot of content you put on screen at any one time. A few years ago, I would have totally steered clear of trying to do that."

This is really exciting, but I’m surprised at the low player numbers of 4-5,000. This game looks really good from what I see and hear but compared to the 1.5million regular GT7 players it pails into comparison.

Although I guess it’s really competing with AC Competizione. Some of things I miss from GT4 & 5 in regards to endurance racing now exist in this… so the decision between PSVR2 and a gaming PC is becoming harder.

Does LMU work with the Stream VR? And therefore also compatible with PSVR2?

Player numbers are closer to 500-1000. Same story for quite a few of the smaller PC sims. I struggle to see how they can make things pay.

The studio director has stated they won’t work on PS5 before finalising the PC version. But I really think they need to make an official console announcement to get wider interest and media publicity.

My guesses:
rfactor2: will probably die as a game, the game engine/ip could be sold to to another company
le mans ultimate: will probably be sold (hello iRacing? :D)
It would be a good purchase for someone. The Le Mans ultimate has had some really good reviews and would be a really saleable product based on all the moaning of a lack of GT3 cars in Gran Turismo 7. Not sure by who though

iRacing would scrap LMU's core in favor of their in-house engine, though. And them buying rFactor 2 would seem like an antitrust lawsuit waiting to happen.
