Hows-about we help the local music scene gain a tiny bit more exposure? Use this thread to show off the talent in your town's music scene. Just one rule, please keep it to artists/bands with a relatively small national fanbase/little-to-no international fanbase!

God God Dammit Dammit
Genre: Rock/Funk
Comment: In my opinion, the best band in Adelaide right now. Their recordings are great and their live performances (example from this weekend's house party gig) are absolutely amazing, extremely fun! When you've got 12 people crammed onto one stage, a lot of energy is going to be produced!

Irie Knights
Genre: Reggae
Comment: A band my friend plays trumpet with, quickly becoming a very popular act in Adelaide and soon interstate. Should be touring the eastern states this year.

Give or Take
Genre: Ska/Punk
Comment: Features the horn section from the above band. One of Adelaide's most popular punk acts, fun live shows which include the obligatory Operation Ivy cover.

Hightime
Genre: Hardcore punk/Reggae/Ska
Comment: Another real popular Adelaide punk band, with a decent following interstate too.

The Bakers Digest
Genre:Rock/Folk
Comment: I only got to see this band for the first time last weekend, really enjoyed what I heard. I find their sound similar to some of the work by Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. Features two of the members from the Irie Knights.

The Baskervilles
Genre: Rockabilly/Psychobilly
Comment: One of my best friends bands, newly formed and have gained some good local appreciation after only a few gigs. Do a mean cover of The Clash's "Brand New Cadillac".

Alycia Budd
Genre:Acoustic/Folk
Comment: A friend of mine who's recently started performing live. Beautiful voice.

All the teenagers in my area want to make terrible metalcore bands, so I'll branch out and include the Chicagoland area.

Company of Thieves is relatively popular, having played in Lollapalooza, but they haven't really gotten any TV/radio attention. I'm pretty good friends with the band and they're releasing a new album in May.

Castevet, or CSTVT because of a name change, is a pretty nice emo band. And by emo, I don't mean the new emo we've been getting. I mean real, raw, midwestern emo (Cap'n Jazz, Braid, etc.).

And... yeah, that's all I can name for now. :P

Haha, not exactly a problem exclusive to your area. :ill: I really like the sound of Castevet, by the way. 👍

Some would argue that even that isn't real emo, given the original bands from DC were nothing like that.

Local bands (successful ones atleast)

Stereophonics
Manic Street Preachers
Funeral For a Friend
Bullet for my Valentine
Kids in Glass Houses
The Automatic
The Blackout

Probably missed some but those come to mind

Local for me

Seven Sacred Days
Style: Metalcore (I think)
Age group: 14-16
More info: Just a school band really, who have entered the Smokefree Rockquest, all friends of mine one way or another.
