Logitech DFGT Force Feedback too strong

I've noticed that the FF, even on a setting of 1 in-game, is seriously strong. To the point where I think I'm going to break the motors inside the wheel if I overexert it, or the whip back during weight transfers is so strong I lose control. Is there any other way to adjust it? I noticed that the Fanatec wheels have their own adjustments external to GT5 GT Academy, is there something for the DFGT or any way to lower it?

Having the same problem with my DFGT. Feel like I am fighting the wheel the whole time. Would be great if I can adjust it.

The Fanatec wheel is MUCH stronger than the DFGT when both are at the lowest setting possible. I used the Fanatec GT3RS wheel for the first two days of the demo, but after trying out the tuned Z I found the car to be very hard to drive with the Fanatec wheel, as well as the FFB being almost twice as strong as the DFGT when both were at the lowest setting. Pretty much all of the FFB wheels on the market are stronger than the DFGT, especially the G27 and Fanatec belt-drive wheels.

Being that the DFGT is designed around GT5, you should almost certainly have no issues with the reliability, especially if you're running at the lowest FFB level possible. That's my 2 cents at least.

How can I turn the FF down on my DFGT?

Btw, Timeattack I was following your ghost and cut my time down 1.5 seconds. Some good driving.

Strange...i don't find the ffb particually strong at all with the dfgt wheel...maybe you should go to the gym or do sports more than playing games....

(joke!!)

spyrrari.

It's not a joke after all, it makes sense.
I go to the gym and I think the ffb is not very strong, plus I don't feel any difference between this TT's ffb and the prologue's (both set at 10).

Things change if you try Supercar Challenge! You really have to fight with the dfgt.

I set my DFGT to 10. Real cars take some muscle to turn, and the higher it is, the more feedback you get.

I have raced GT5P with a DFGT for about the last year on 5 and tuned it up to 10 for the 370TT's.
It seems close to Prologue but I wanted to get all the feedback I could from the wheel.

The OP has been answered so this is jst FYI.

I don't go to the gym and the FFB is still very weak to me. I like to feel what the car is doing, that feeling wasn't there in Prologue(set at 10) and its not there in GT5 TT.
I have the DFGT wheel and every other game driving game I play the FFB is fantastic.

My excuse is that I got the wheel yesterday and was used to a controller. I am sure it'll take me some time to get used to the wheel.

After driving around with it for awhile, I can appreciate when you're smooth on the throttle and on the steering it feels far more refined.

The way I've got FF set up in other games like GTR Evo is to have FF provide feedback so I can feel when the car breaks traction etc. but not to actually impede my steering with FF trying to wrest control from me. Perhaps I just need more practice.

simulation setting has stronger feedback, so use the professional, and turn on power steering

I wish there was a way to use lower lock than 900 degrees.... c'mon PD, how about some more user options?!

What does the power steering option do? And what's the most realistic ffb setting (asking real-life racers)?

makes the force feedback weaker, like a normal power steering car vs a car with no power steering. Easier to turn the wheel :)

Amazon UK have got the DFGT for £49.99, now I just need to convince the wife a wheel stand pro is a good investment even though it costs more than the wheel!

I know this is off topic but it's a good deal.

edit...it's back up to £75 now

It's worth it. I have a DFGT with a wheelstandpro, works great. You can tell your wife that a wheelstandpro doesn't take much space at all, you can fold it. That should help a little. :)

:grumpy: Just got mine for £75 and should get delivered tomorrow :( That sucks as I got mine from ebay instead of amazon because amazon was £80.

Sorry to throw it more off topic. This will be my first wheel so I will tell you tomorrow how strong it is for my weedy arms.

These settings are not applicable to the DFP or DFGT, that is why they are greyed out when choosing this option.
It only applies to the other models shown.
You can select power steering though. :)

You sure? I can select it just fine and I feel a difference :)
In the other settings, other than simulation, the wheel helps you countersteer. And they have less kicks and bucks

Don't know what you guys are talking about the FF being to strong is just fine, hell I need more.
I am using the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S CS edition at:
900* Sensitivity, 100% FF, 100% shock, ABS 85, No drift, with 10 FF in game.

Power steering doesn't "make the forces weaker", what it actually does is when you turn the wheel fast enough you can feel the wheel suddenly free up and become easier to turn, implying that the game tells the wheel to free-wheel the motor. It's very necessary on the DFGT because that wheel does have some turning resistance from the motor. It's less necessary on the G25, at least in my opinion.

I'm running my DFGT at strength 6, because when it was on 10 the centring force on the wheel seemed to dominate all other forces. I came to the conclusion that setting it to 5-6 gives more of the subtle information of the car balance and that kind of thing. Could just be my imagination of course :)

I have ff on 5, but power steering off. I will give it a go, as I never tried it before I think. I've always read people saying that you need to turn it off. But you may be right that it's different for the DFGT.

General consensus amongst the quicker drivers I've discussed this with is to use FF of around 3-5 on Logitec wheels... you need some feedback to work against, but the lower you can get away with the more precise you can be with very small steering inputs.

I've found FF higher than 5 to strong. Not that my arms can't handle it, but I don't think it's the intention to struggle with the FF. Like you said, you just need some feedback to work against.

Heard of placebo? ;) Read the options carefully and you will see he is right.
