Logitech Driving Force GT Faceplate Removal

Hi all,

Has anyone been able to remove the steering wheel faceplate off of the DFGT? I've removed all of the screws from the back of the wheel, but the plastic face is somehow still attached. If anyone has any clue how to safely remove it I'd really appreciate it. Once I've got it removed I'm going to attempt a 3M Carbon Fiber wrap.

Cheers,

Coryd

Come on, anyone? I tried removing it again out of boredom and still no luck. I've made sure all external screws were removed but the plastic face still feels pretty stuck on there.

You sure you did the 3 near the centre of the wheel, there are quite hard to get at because the case is in the way.

Do you mean the three on the back of the wheel? I was able to remove those by first removing the top of the case.

the owner of www.granturgismo.com just posted pictures on FB of his new carbon fiber (overlay?) faceplate for the DFGT...

Yeah I saw that, it looks pretty good. I might do this, but I'm still a little unsure about the decal. It doesn't look like it wraps around the top or sides of the plastic face and for some reason the weave moves in different directions on different parts of the decal.

He said the vinyl could be cut so that the weave is all matching. And while having it completely wrapped would be nice, it'd be just about impossible to do with vinyl without having seams/folds... which is why i suggested hydro-dipping to him.

Cory,

I believe your paddles are covering a screw that is holding the face on :)

Haha that's exactly what I just came here to say! I took another look this morning and realized my paddles are covering a couple extra screws...

As much as I wanted to try the 3M vinyl wrap, it's going to be a pain to take the paddles off and buy more adhesive to reapply them later. I'll probably just go with the Granturgismo carbon fiber decals.
