So, as we are aware, Logitech have their Driving Force line of wheels, the official steering wheels to Gran Turismo.

The old Driving Force Pro was the GT4 wheel, while the Driving Force GT came out with GT5P, and is supposed to be GT5's official wheel.

This is all correct, right? I've been looking to buy the DFGT. My local store told me that the wheel was out of stock from the dealer, and that there might be a new wheel coming. Tried another store, same response. Shopping online, the wheel seems to be out of stock on many places, or with leftover stock only. Three or four wheels available.

So, is this a natural fluctuation of the market - new batch coming closer to GT5's release date, production halted due to cost cuts, whatever - or does anyone know if there will be a new wheel. I'm tempted to jump on one now - the low stock seems not to inflate the price, but to guarantee a nice price. Should I, or am I better off waiting?

Its the wheel theyre pushing with gt5...it was made for gt5 with the menu's and on the fly changes you can do. There's no news of a new logitech wheel coming out...you can always buy it on amazon or possibly your local craigslist.

If you cant find one just buy me a used g25 and I'll swap you for my dfgt ;-)

The g25 and g27 are going to be awesome with gt5 since they have shifters\clutch etc.

However there is a weird sony update that sony is doing that supposedly can damage any non official harware (im pretty sure any logitech wheel is going to be considered officially licensed) because of a recent hack you can do on the sony ps3 to root it using a usb device...so it has a lot of people worried that they will ban every non sony ps3 licensed wheel minus the dfgt...but its probably all fine and any logitech wheel should be safe.

I'm all aware of that, hence the question. It doesn't add up. Maybe they've suspended production in this dry patch, and it'll pick up during October?

Just got a DFGT from Argos, also for £80, and it was the only one in stock in Bristol (6 stores).

Maybe way off but I suspect mfg's are holding stock of this wheel to bundle with GT5 if/when it ever gets released !

Also made a stand to keep it stable (check the cheap cockpits thread)

That is what they are doing because of the lazy people who don't shop around and just say "This works with GT5 as in the videos, I'll buy it"
If you ask those people about Fanatec they'll go "Who?"
