I'm not sure why you think GT5 is even in the same ball park as iRacing because it is not. It is not even close, you can have fun with it's 10000 cars but the physics are terrible when compared to iRacing.

Why? Because I tried them both. The great thing is any one can make his own opinion. Once you remove all assist, put the proper tyres, usualy comfort tyres, you find out GT5 is really good.

But dont you find it strange that you are probably the only person in the world who has tried gt5 and iracing and thinks gt5 is even close in physics ?
Does it not ring a bell ?

Well in case anyone is interested all I did was re install the logitech driver and the shaking went away. Weird. Well now I can enjoy again!

Agree, would be strange, not sure I am the only one, definitly a minority in this thread.
What does ring a bell is that a lot of sim driver are misusing GT5 by using assist and wrong tyres, once you get pass that you get to an other layer. I will assume that all arguing the vast superiority have tried GT5 in its best light and truly believe IRacing physic is vastly superior.

WOW
I always drove cs and no abs in gt5 to make it more real.
Gt5 physics are not close to iracing, i bet 95% peoble who
test both do agree.
Try google iracing vs gt5.
It is good that you enjoy gt5, super.
But please dont say such a nonsense that the physics are close.
Hitler tought he was right, well 99% of the world dont agree.
Open your eyes.
Not comparing you to Hitler :)
Enjoy your GT5

Gt5 physics, in any condition are too soft. Even if all of the assists are off the tire physics are ****. Gt5 is good compared to other console games, but on pc its easily beaten by LFS, Rfactor and iracing. Also I noticed that in gt5 if you hit a sweet spot in its suspension setup the car becomes stupidly stable, not very realistic...

Roll into the brake, as soon as you feel any of that wheel shake, try to keep out of it. Trust me, I've spent a lot of time in that car, and one of the first things that made me faster was keeping the tires cool by not triggering the ABS. If you're in an open setup series, you can tweak the brake bias a little. I think baseline might use the maximum front bias, and you can get away with a little more in the rear.

The other important thing, which applies to all cars, is to realize when you're giving too much steering angle in the turn and just scrubbing the front tires.

I agree. In order to get faster laptimes consistently for a longer period of time, you need to avoid heating up the tyres too quickly or causing more friction between the road and the tyre than necessary.

My guess is you are a Rookie in iRacing? and you are frustrated because you find the physics are difficult.

Don't get me wrong Cote, i liked GT5, i got level 40 in both disiplines in only 3 or 4 months after it came out. GT5 is fun to play, the GT cars were my favorites and we had many fun races. We never used any assists anytime, just straight out racing, i had a good many friends that raced together.

i have been at iRacing for 14 months now and i am sitting at a "C" license ATM, i could get my "B" license in a couple weeks if i wanted but now that i can race the Riley proytotype i'm going to take it slow. When i compare to where i am now in iRacing to the end game of GT5 i know the physics are not the same, as i mentioned, GT5 is a game and iRacing is more of a service.

i am not the fastest racer by any means but i know that the physics, tracks and cars in iRacing are much more advanced, if you don't see that then that is your opinion even if it is wrong. :) Enjoy your racing, that's what we are all here for.

I don't want to go into detail about physics.

I can only say that I like to play GT5 very much and do it a lot. But as soon as I see videos of the world's fastest guys, how their cars behave and what setup they drive (raised the front and lowered the rear to the maximum) then I have doubts (to say the least) about the physics in GT5.

No GT5-bashing from my side, I think it is the best simulation on PS3. But I think that SimBin-Titles, iRacing and some other PC-Sims offer more realism.

You are correct I am a very recent D racer and my impression is a very early impression.
I am very impress by many aspect of IRacing and I will give myself a chance to discover its merrits.
Looking forward to race you in the future if and when I get to your level in IRacing.
Also it would be a pleasure to have you take part in our parity racing event on Monday's. We are a fun and friendly group, link in my signature.

Lol! Why would it be bad?? We all love or loved the GT series at some point and for some of us it is what introduced us to sim racing! Nothing wrong with enjoying every title out there!

I didn't mean it in a literal way ;)

Eric.
No. You want to keep out of the vibration in the MX5. It is still able to lock up and at the point where you feel the ABS, you're accelerating the heat build up in the tires. Which you'll find to kill your lap times.

I think that's what has been killing me, and i've probably lost two races because of it. i find that towards the end of the race, my car isn't turning in as it was at the start of the race, but the other drivers around me, still gain more time.
How should i be proceeding to brake? How should i start braking?

I'm basically, around 75% pressure immediately and ease of into acceleration almost instantly.

It actually does in iracing, thats what the jittering is about. In real life ABS pulses the brake pedal for you so you dont lock up...

read man, read

Where did you read this?

The Solstice has ABS and you can put your foot flat to the floor and have no lock up or vibration or whatever, try that in the MX5 and it is well....... unpleasant.

Why it does it for the MX5 and not other cars, i have no clue. But if you've ever felt it in real life it feels like you're driving over a gravel road, which is kind of what iracing simulates.

The MX5 ABS is brutal, the Mustang less so. I haven't driven the Solstice in some time, so I wouldn't know about that. But each car has it's own feel. It's not the same ABS system on all cars.

The Solstice is easy going under full braking. The first time I used full braking with my GT3RS while driving the Mx-5 I thought it was broke lol.

In real life, prior to 1991, ABS was not available on MX5, MX5 only started to have optional ABS from 1991 ( NA ) and goes through to 2007 ( NC ) model year :D . Every MX5 during that period will have to pay extra to get ABS installed, unless they are special/limited edition models which some have ABS as standard. Some countries like USA have ABS standard for MX5, not sure from when, maybe after 1999 ...

EBD started to be offered on certain models from 2001 onwards, so that might be the point that all US models have ABS as standard.

From 2007 onwards, ABS is standard feature for all MX5 :) and you can't just unplug the ABS fuse to remove it, the brake bias will not be correct as EBD will interfere by giving more rear bias - prone to lock.

I said too much
