Car: toyota sprinter trueno gt-apex ae86 83

I run Comfort Soft tires, and i like to think im pretty good.
so if your good enough add me on PSN and lets drift!!!

One of your biggest problems I can see is your tire choice. Not that softs are bad cause there fun to play on every now and again. But If your wanting to battle with majority of this community or on the pro level. You are going to have to buy some comfort hards and learn these tires. Cause these are the tires that are used in most all of the major events on GT5.

And you might want to open your car inventory up a bit this Isn't inital D It's GT5. And we use a varity of cars and as sad as it sounds the cars you use are not going to be able to keep up hope this information helps out. Don't take it as a insult cause I'm only trying to help.

Also there is no shortage of good drifters on GTP whether they use DS3 or a wheel.

But we use Comfort Hard Tyres instead.

You are probably talking about touge, as mentioned before it is shown in Initial D. This however is not drifting as it is practised by the most of us. Look for touge teams and events, and don't call it drifting, and you're cool with most people on here. Just a tip :)

... I like to think i am pretty good.

 Dude has self-confidence.

i drive an 86 because i can keep up and beat a wide variety of cars, such as skylines, silvias, mustangs, evos, and imprezas, and so on...

I dont understand why everyone uses Comfort Hards, when real pro drifters use a sports compound tire. so if someone can clear that up for me.

No im not talking about touge, thats mainly grip with a little drift.
i drift every corner. I dont drift the straights though.

But with your type of tires it looks more like Touge then drifting.

P.S.: Professional drifters use tires specially made for drifting. We don't have those in GT5, so to match reality most we use comforts.

the average tire used by most professional drift teams have a durometer of 220-240. Which would be the equivalent of mediums in the game. Hards are the equivalent of what regular everyday grass roots drifters use because they are cheap. So check your facts.

yea they use a sport compound tire

But we are not talking about real life. We are talking about a game and I'm trying to tell you if you wanna find events on a pro level your going to have to switch to comfort hards. Its all about your driving skill I can run my Ford-GT from comfort hards all the way to racing softs and drift. But thats beside the point if I want to be surrounded by a community of great drifters I better have comfort hard tires on my pony. Or all I'm gonna do is find the random tskuba room where there Isn't a tire restrection and low grip and after an hour or two I'm gonna be bored. So forget what you know switch your tires and see what this community is really like. I'm sure it will be a eye opener for you.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do but if you want pro level events think about what I have said here.

What seems like nothing to one person can mean a lot to others. And the Teams and Meets Sub-Forum has a lot of things happening there, for example the teams and the meets. Sure they go off topic sometimes (actually quite a lot of times) but more often than not they are dealt with either by a member of staff, or another member in the team. And the few that don't listen regret it later on.

So just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else doesn't like it... Even I don't like it at some points but I keep my mouth shut and look at a different forum for a while.

On a side note a tyre forum would just increase the arguement even more because people would know to go there to complain about some compound of tyre not being absolutely 100% perfect.

I used to drift and on these street-ish cars comfort hards work best.
Unless your drift cars make 600+bhp and/or spool diff'ed like what most real drifters use then softs are too grippy for the full experience imo. Especially on an 86.

I used to practice with Comf Softs in stock M3's, now I use TVR's and Vettes should I feel the urge. Biltz Skyline is pretty awesome too, lots of lock and it wont spin.
I use quite abit of + toe it seems to help.

Like CG said, you don't like the drift forum, don't visit it. We don't need more negative cry babies like you around here.

If you take a second to actually comprehend what is being said in this thread, you would understand that this isn't anywhere close to a flame war or tyre compound debate.

The OP basically said "Hey guys, new to the forum, looking for people to drift with...this is the equipment I use." The drifting community then responded (in a politer than average way I might add) "Welcome to the drift forums. If you're looking to start tandeming with GTP regulars, we suggest you switch to CH tires, as that is what the vast majority of us use."

We all know that the tire debate has been exhausted, and there is no need for a debate / argument over which compound is better. People should use whatever tire they feel most comfortable with, or that they have the most fun with. However, there is nothing wrong with regular GTP drifters informing new members (such as the OP) as to which tires the majority of GTP drifters use.

I could care less what tires people use when they drift by themselves, or in someone else's lobby/lounge. However, if you want to slide in any of mine or my teams' lounges, lobby's, events, or comps, then you had better use CH, because that's what I/we use, period.

And to say that nothing ever happens in the drift forums??? What are you smoking? I suppose a better question would be, in your opinion, what constitutes "something happening"? We use these forums to organize comps, events and meets, discuss tuning, share GT5 drifting photos and videos, along with general discussion of drifting culture and how it applies to GT5.

To you, I'd say either become an active member of this drift community (haven't seen you post much, and I've never seen you in any GTP organized event/meet/comp), or go kill your time in some other sub thread, because we don't need your negativity.

Guys, let it go. Someone already said what you would, there is no need in keep having a poo over other poo. If that makes sense. lol

I appologize for this DA... LOL That makes ALMOST NO sense xD!!!!! But I can still see where your coming from. And btw this thread that "nothing happens" in is just like your RACING forum except we PURPOSELY lose traction :) Right now your the only "Flamer" I see. . .(to the guy who was complaining, I have hard time remembering the names of his kind. . .)

Yes you are correct. BUT GT5's tire physics are garbage and incorrect. The sports compound in the game are technically racing slicks. Sports are pointless. The actual racing tires in GT5 are godly. If you think i am wrong well Nevermind i am not haha.

Comfort hards through comfort mediums are the closest to real life drift tires.

The tire physics you guys (talking to anyone who drifts on Comfort Soft and above) always forget. Yes in real life the drift on technically sport ls grade in the game but because of GT5's tire model physics that can not be applied

i love comfort mediums, just wish that the drift events allowed them.

Jerry, I knew I recognized that name earlier. I knew something was fishy when everyone started beating the lap times. I'm the guy in the orange Solstice. Makes me wonder what if you tried using comfort hard tires.

EDIT:

When I mean by fishy was that everyone started to have larger time gaps. I checked everyone's tires that were creating those gaps and it was a wide variety of upper grade tires.

Hey Lock, We should make a lobby and have a friendly open lobby comp :D I wanna drift with you some more! Fun watching your front tires, as your PSN implies something  BTW for future reference to all those that don't know my psn, it's GT_Obliviator, just thought i'd throw that out there.

Edit: BTW i'm going to write in pink from now on, thx to my drift car
