Looking for the real thing

GT4 is all about trying to simulate the real thing
and in this spirit I've been testing out Nr in stock fitted with standard road tires and disableling Driving aids
I've tried everything from The SLR Mc Laren to The Honda Civic

And all I can say is that the game is more challenging and more intertaining that way. and really puts you at the weels of these cars.
You really feel like going 50 mph in Nür's tight narrow turns

I sure hope that the guys at Polyphony make more tracks like Nür, long, difficult to master and unpredictable, depending on the car.

All I see on these boards are guys fitting Full racing tires on urban cars, and to me...that's not real and doesn't testify to the game's high end simulation properties

I'm going to start posting my laps on Nür and other tracks that almost match in dificulty.

I'm looking forward to a tight competition.
My fav car so far is SLR Mc Laren
and various Japanese cars (in stock please)

this is some good stuff, and i agree about the tires though im guilty of it myself lol. i never ever use driving aids as i almost always post a slower lap time with them on anyways, but i do love to drive cars that are stock to get an idea of how things would feel in real life and i do (occaisonally) try those N tires out. however since tires like R5 are available for track use in real life, i believe that they provide the better racing experience for me.

R4 and R5 tires are not available in real life. Something approaching R4 might be like F1 qualifying tires, but the GT4 tires are still overpowered. Racing mediums are pretty much the ones to go for for a more realistic high end racing simulation.

Then you need to look further. We have a thread full of stock cars on N2 tyres putting in times at the nurburgring here

Well, don't post them here. This is the settings forum and as you're talking about stock cars, then you can't change those settings. You need to post your times in that other thread.

Ah..that thread i didn't see
I beat the leader with the SLR by one second running standard Road tires...
I must be better that I tought I was...:dopey:

I totally agree the Nürburgring is an awsome track very unpredictable they should put more tracks like them on the game maybye the isle of man TT course

I agree with chromeballz that the R3 tires are the closest thing to real sticky race rubber. Everything softer in GT4 just feels unnatural compared to real life driving. That is why I never even bother to set or drive cars on any racing tire softer then R3s. I mean it is not like you can go and run a race on R5s. They barely last a lap with tire wear on.:grumpy:
