Looking to get driving shoes for GT Academy

Must be nice to he able to throw money away. Anyways good luck with 8-5. And scooty see you in Fla. I hope.

I hope so to man, it's obvious this will be much more difficult to qualify for than anything previous, but we'll see.

Shoes look nice, hope they serve their purpose.

I stand corrected R1600, looks interesting. Definitely agree with 3rd person screwing me up with a wheel. I think you'd feel like your always behind in your steering corrections.

Shoes are over rated in my opinion. I have a few pairs of socks that I got from my stay in the hospital. The have treads on the bottom and work great. I believe in becoming one with my driving rig (modified playseat) and shoes and/or gloves only hamper that.

what about driving gloves? any advice there? i find myself using the wheel so much my hands grow uncomfortable calluses. I'd like to get a pair

Are you serious? You want driving gloves because you're getting calluses, lol. What ever happened to having man hands. Next you're going to be wanting one of those seat massager things, lol. I'm just messing with you, lol. By all means, glove up, lol. Buckle that 5 point harness also and don't forget the HANS Device, lol. Again, just joking with you and felt like being a smart ass, lol.

EDIT: I've read in another thread that those Mechanix gloves work pretty good.

Now that's a legit gripe. And mechanix gloves do work well.

I have used driving gloves a few times during long races. Hands start to get sweaty after a while (I am in AZ afterall....) so they help.

just bought a pair of puma future cats myself. good for real driving and i do like them for gt5. nothing game changing, but good nonetheless! good luck pirates. call if ya need a few pointers! ;)

Well then good luck with your chosen profession and by all means, be careful with those money makers, lol.

well thank you. I hope all the money i spend on a hand modelling college tuition wont go to waste and i will find a hand job soon enough.

make sure you give them your resume of past hand jobs! LMAO!!!

I was doing the Nurb 4 hour event the other night. My heals started to heat up. I could just envision the heals of my socks being chewed up by the diamond plate of the T500 pedals. So I broke out my "driving shoes". They are merely some stiff bottomed slip on loafers I got from Target. They actually [structurally] resemble "actual" driving shoes. I didn't say racing, I said driving.

Of course I was using my Mechanix 0.5 gloves, it would be preposterous not to for a long event. Sweaty hands and unnecessary blisters are how you "man up", yeah sure. I think not.

That's Phil Arscott, and yes he drives in 3rd person.

I use hood/roof view.

Good to know. I don't get along well with the other views, 3rd person here too. Glad there was at least one finalist last year in "my" group ;)

youre right. I feel like there is some lag there or something like that. It just feels wierd. Id say it does have a very small advantage though being able to see your whole car.

I use cockpit view. It is so much more easy than the others.

Just kidding. I switch between bumper and hood/ roof.

If you're going to buy special clothing, I think a pair of racing gloves would be money better spent. Last year, I got blisters on the insides of both thumbs with my DFGT and playseat.

wow, i've never had any blisters on my hands I have played for hours and hours with breaks only to get refreshments and I use a DFGT as well, I race in my socks to give better feel than racing boots. I guess you guys must grip the wheel more tightly than I do if you are getting blisters :)

^If you use a G25/G27 then you need shoes, your feet WILL get messed up, especially from the brake pedal. And I never got blisters with bare hands, but I felt that karting gloves gave a better feel after a while, and your sweat doesn't make your hands stick to the wheel.

Since I know the last part of your post was directed at me, let me respond by correcting your inability to read and understand my post. First, I was only joking with the guy. Second, I never said "man up". I said "man hands". Once again, an ill attempt at taking a shot at me. You really need to stop with this childish behavior toward me. I've done nothing to you so please stop.

You really think highly of yourself don't you...

A Kyle Busch fan on this forum that makes sense, finally.
(No disrespect to KB fans, I just don't particularly like him.)

I used some G-Force race shoes like these (GF235 Mid Tops) IRL back during my autocross days. I liked them... had a better feel of the pedals.

I'll be doing some practice on Thursday(6/14/2012) in an Open wheel Renault 1600 here --->http://www.allenbergracingschools.com/

I Can't wait!

Just bought these, they accommodate my wider foot...so comfy I actually tried them on my way to work and driving on my G25 pedals, man what a difference.
