Lotus Elan '71

I live in the UK but my girlfriends dad lives in lancaster california. He races lotus elan '71 in classic races. He reckons that his lotus can out perform a dodge viper. I doubt he means top speed. Anyone out there ever watch any of the classic races he might race in? Ive seen his trophy cabinet and its huuuuuuge. He used to rally in britain and win alot.

A Lotus Elan 26R is a quick car, but a 71?

It might be a different one. I dont really know much about his cars, ive never seen him race. His name is Malcolm Stuart he originally drove rallies in UK but moved to CA about 9 years ago.

make no bones, he is a fast driver... here are some results, He is usually one of the top drivers in his class, if not the top.

He has run a 1:30.9 at Las Vegas Raceway in 2001.

The ORECA Viper ran a 1:14.1 in 2000 same track.

Could his race prepped Elise beat a Street Viper, Yes but obviously not a top notch fully prepped Viper, like Oreca's.
