LOTUS elise 111R I think is very cool. I have tested this car on the test corse from zero to max speed and saved reply. then I got every car with the same bhp and done the same. trust me it is avery cool car. your thughts.

The car I love the most. Excellent performance, even aclaimed as the best Elise to date. What's more to like than performance, spirit and looks?

I only resently tested the honda civic r the same way,and tried every other car with the same bhp and more.when i drove the elise i was in delayed shock that the elise left it for snot dust

tht's because the civ is front wheel drive:dunce:.

You tested an Elise 111R against the Civic Type-R and you were then surprised to find that the Elise is a better car in every way?

:odd::rolleyes:

I should be driving my Elise more often in races. It's one hell of a car to me. The coolest part of the car, is the headlights.

Holy macaroni, dude!!!! Check your DAMN spelling!!!!!
:grumpy:

Is that why it's the star car in your story The Biography Of Charles Williams???💡

you tell me how meny cars with the same bhp as a type R. will leave sitting. not many , clio V6.

HEY HEY HEY!!! Calm down man, he's from Ireland. Calm down.

Ooooooh that's cooold! :(

look sorry if my spelling offends you but if you understand what I meant whats the problem? some times I like to burn rubber rather than brains. sorry.

It's not about offending anybody. GTP has a policy about using grammar and spelling; basically, you're supposed to spell & use proper grammar to the best of your extent. Use your shift key to start each sentence, too. And capitalize proper nouns. I know it seems kinda lame, but once you start to do it, trust me, you may start feeling more intelligent. 💡 Which is always a good thing.

Lately there's been a whole lot of New Members using lazy English here at GTP. If you wanna do so, try going to IGN.com or gamefaqs or any of a number of sites that doesn't care as much as we do.

I'm sorry, don't take it too seriously!

Now that's the spirit, dude!

You tell me how many cars with the same bhp as a Type-R will leave it sitting; not many. Maybe a Clio V6.

I fixed your sentence.

And to respond, it isn't all about horsepower. Weight is the key here. The Elise weighs a bit more than half of what the CTR weighs. If it has the same amount of horsepower but is only pushing half the weight, it only seems logical that it would be faster.

i've now put in stage one stage two and stage three weight reduction one chip stage three air and exhaust fillter still no comparasment i may now bring the ctr oner 250 bhp and see if theres any comparasment . honda crazy myself .

I think you're being very, very harsh COOLfiat. And it wouldn't exactly be the first time on this forum... are you trying for moderator or something? :P:lol:

paddycars1, listen to Parnelli... try and form proper grammar and punctuation. I personally don't mind, but I don't think the mods would be so lenient. I've seen people warned and/or banned for text speaking, improper grammar, etc. etc.

I mean, look at me, at fifteen years old I should be text-speaking away! Nah, I'm just joking, I always type like this :P

Anyway! Back on topic. I do like Elises. I haven't really tried the 111R a whole lot, but I think I'll check it out later after seeing how much you like it :)

One Elise I really like though, would have to be the '99 Motorsport Elise. I mean, this thing is just a little rocket. It truly represents what Lotus stands for - performance through light weight. This thing is so light, I can speed around the twists and turns of the Nurb at purely unthinkable speeds. It just feels so much faster than anything else in the game because of this... I really, really love it.

COOLfiat - I agree with EJRocky on this. If you're not going to be constructive in your criticism then it's probably best you keep it to yourself. Paddycars' spelling and grammar isn't up to much but then yours isn't wonderful either, and at least people don't take your threads or posts off-topic by telling you that.

paddycars - Please try and have a good read over your posts before you press the submit button. Ideally, they should contain the following:

  • Punctuation where required. Commas would be very useful in the quoted text above.
  • Correct use of capital letters - such as at the start of a sentence.
  • Real words. "Comparasement" is not one. "Comparison" is, and I suspect that's the one you were after.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar aside, I think what people have been trying to hint at is that the Elise has several things going for it even over a fairly well-tuned Civic Type R. It's lighter as standard than the lightest you can get the Civic. It's rear-wheel drive and not front-wheel drive, so it has a big traction advantage - the weight (much of which is at the back in a mid-engined car like the Elise) when accelerating is being pushed onto the rear wheels, giving it more grip, as opposed to being lifted off the front wheels, reducing grip.

In response to one of your other posts - I'd guess that there are quite a few cars the same power and weight as a CTR that could beat it off the line - many of which will be either rear-driven or all-wheel drive, as these cars have significant traction advantage. I like the CTR a lot (both the EK9 and EP2 variations) but it's not the best FWD car in the game by a long shot.

Bingo^
As for the Lotus, I love it. It is so nimble, its pretty quick (even stock) and it looks fantastic. It is definately one of my favourite cars in the game for sheer fun-factor.

Regarding the Lotus itself I've not actually driven it too much (much more actually in GT5:P - excellent in that game). In GT4 I've driven the Type 72 much more frequently, as with less power I think it's even more balanced, and of course you can never go too far wrong with gold details on black 👍

Hi guys back again, sorry about the mess ups with my spelling. In future I will try to make sure everything is in order . Back to the 111r , you say the weight is the problem . Know I have tried the mugen motel civic si race car at 225 bhp standard . 890 kg the 111r sitting at 782 kg letting the megan have 15 mph start still no comparison . Please guys try this for yourself . Thank you

To me, the rest of the Elises are extremely capable cars that are nimble, responsive, and stable. But the 111R has something the other cars don't have, which is controllable oversteer that can work to your advantage. It makes a huge difference in the car's feel and really sets it apart from the other models. Those ones may be good, but their rock-like stability (such as in the Type 72) makes them significantly less fun to drive for me.

Yeah i know i got a warning for being an Abusive piece of <CENSORED>.

Maybe I oversimplified my weight explanation... There are many things that contribute to a car's overall ability.

Power (torque and hp each have different effects!)
weight
engine placement
drive wheels (AWD, RWD, FWD)
tires
gearing
aerodynamics
suspension design

There are thousands more minute variables, but this ought to get you started.

I'm going to do some testing with the Civic Type-R EP2. I'm going to test it out and apply parts and settings to it until it can just reach the laptime of a stock Elise 111R. I'll report back later and you'll see what it takes to get it there. I don't think it'll take too much, but we'll see. :)

I'm having a smoke before I set up my wheel and rig.

I can do it with less than 258 hp. :)

I'll post everything I added to it and all the settings as well. Be back in an hour or so, it's hotlap time!

Times might not necessarily compare perfectly, I'm running from a PAL disc since that's my current save. I have an NTSC save as well but I haven't started it.

Is that why it's the star car in your story The Biography Of Charles Williams???💡

Aside from not being overused, and being the perfect opposite of the typical beat down, slow, and old japanese car...

Yes, that's why I chose it. :D And because it totally rocks! 👍

But anyways, I agree with people here. The Elise is in its own league. Not even a stock Spoon Civic can match it, for that matter. And that's being fairly generous, it's one of the best handling FF cars I have drove, and dominates the 1/4 Mile thread. HOWEVER, if the Spoon Civic was a MR, I have the feeling things could be different. It's a tuned car, though.
