Coming back from lunch today i thought id give a company car a bit of a flogging. ive been planning to do this for a while so i took a digital camera along to show my boss  the car used is one of various toyota camrys that my firm allows us to use for business purposes. the one in the picture below is a 91, 2 litre, 5 speed manual toyota camry. as you can see it goes alright

 Dudebusta.

Yeah, vat, but in Bueller's they were going backwards so it would show 'zero' no matter what (remember, they thought going backward would take mileage off the car? ).

when it fell off the jacks it went through the wall. haha thats for real vat_man. no bull**** about that. gateway bridge is good for speed. when you pull up for the toll, its like a set of lights. as soon as your moneys in, you floor it and keep it there. in my case, i kept it there too long

i saw ferris beulers day off, dont you think they would have been choking on the exhaust fumes while they were talking??

6900/7000 RPM pulls close to 200kmh. i doubt toyota ever pushed them that far.

Oh, I'm sure they have - test drivers do everything they can to tear them up so the manufacturer knows how to improve their reliability.

About the speedo in reverse ... my car shows speed either direction. It's measuring the revolutions of the tires which doesn't require that they go in any spacific direction. HOWERVER, depending on which tire is being measured, they may not have had a reading. Most cars I can think of use a front tire to measure, for obvious reasons (the guages are in the front ...), and that was a rear drive car with the back end up on a jack - the front tires aren't spinning at all.

200kph is what like 135mph? That's fast man!!(not joking, that's fast for that car). My bro went 117 in his 87 626....that's 93 hp lol...

Loud, speedos(atleast on Mazdas) measure the gear revolutions, meaning different size tires make the speedo read off a bit...my bro's digidashes(in both his MX-6 and 626) read in reverse, but our other cars don't(I'm pretty sure). The speedo cable has a gear on the end, and it goes into the transmittion and measures from the drive gear(alright, I admit, I don't know what it exactly goes to, but it does go into the trans with a gear)...

funny stuff

I recently test drove some cars with my parents (i didn't know the car company would let me...i only have my permit) and i always floor it when driving them, its nice to see what different cars drive like.

The fastest I've ever been was 129 mph in my car. My Cousin's Stang lets see I think we were doing like 150

id love to see someone try and flog a camry really hard, they are gutless...well the 4's are anyway.

that happens in any car mate. the smaller the tyre, the more the axles spin and the faster the speedo reads. when i used to go sand driving in my pajero, i had to let the tyres down to around 17 or 18 PSI so they would grip. the speedo and odometer always read wrong.

and yeah it is fast for a camry. i thought it would have been rev limited...obviously not :P

Dude, where did you find that 360 degree video for your avatar? And is there any Mazda ones there?

M5 - i didnt take the picture, the guy in the passenger seat did. he had the camera pointed at the speedo and i glanced at the LCD screen and told him when to take the picture. it took about 5 pictures to get it right.

jazza - yeah it is fast for a camry. i dont think im gonna attempt it again.

yeah true but anything with the throttle wide open has some accelleration. it took a long time to reach that speed, a very ****ing long time.

and if i wanted to fake something id go for a bit more than 200km/h

Yeah, try and break the needle off. It looks like the Cam "yellow-lines." Apparently, the Japanese have never heard of the "redline."
