That's a pretty good way of looking at it - but then no economy cars would ever have any form of decent motor!

id rather something that can lay a smokey skid for a good 30 metres while riding the brakes, if it dont do that, well, its ****.

Give me a break - I'd need about 400 hp to lay strips down. It's alright for you guys running two wheel drive! The last time I tried dumping the clutch at high revs in the Super Sube I had to drive around for half an hour to get the smell out of the cabin.

i can understand that vat_man. my commodore drops a skid for 30 metres with one wheel going hard and the other going semi hard. i reckon the diff is gonna fall to bits soon.

(remember, they thought going backward would take mileage off the car? ).
On that topic, here's an article on the odometer... BTW, scroll down to the bottom of the page... on the 2nd to the last paragraph, the author states:

You can also see that mechanical odometers like this one are rewindable. When you run the car in reverse, the odometer actually can go backwards -- it's just a gear train. In the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," in the scene where they have the car up on blocks with the wheels spinning in reverse -- that should've worked! In real life, the odometer would've turned back. Another trick is to hook the odometer's cable up to a drill and run it backwards to rewind the miles.

Substitute 'reckon' for 'know' and I'll agree with you - no LSD, huh?
