So if I were to do one of these events, would I need to purchase the 2 selected cars for the specific event?

You need ALL cars in the list scheduled to be used for an event.

In the Opening Post (post #1 in this thread), below the rules, there is a description of the race procedure.
In post #2 of this thread is the schedule, which includes which list will be used that event, and info about the tracks we'll be on.

There are two spec 1-make races per session. The 1st race, and the last race are 1-make, and that's what those 2 cars are referencing.

Does this

Race #6: 1 laps @ Nürburgring 24hrs (T: 06:30 / 45) (W: 25% / 50 / 50%)

mean racing at night and in rain?

If so, I'll voluntarily pit stop & pull over, just to not hold up the field. I can't see in those conditions IRL, or on the TV, really.

I can't race this combo if we're in night/wet - the 0630 is fine-ish, just not sure what 'time' we should finish with the 45 setting.

Race #6: 1 laps @ Nürburgring 24hrs (T: 06:30 / 45) (W: 25% / 50 / 50%)

According to my testing & calculations.
Time progression 45 works out to be:
1 second = 1 minute
1 minute = 1 hour

14 minute race at the outside ballpark? = 14 hours time passing.

The sun will be risen before we leave the GP part of the track. (I would estimate that it would be twilight only for the first couple turns of the race. And with wet conditions - peeps better be crawling anyway at that point.)
And the race will end by 8:30pm in Nurburgring Gran Turismo time.
Meaning that dusk will probably set in for most drivers, somewhere on the long straight, near the end of the race.

Meaning that the sun will be highest in the sky, from Aremburg to the carousel...
Which, in my experience, is the part of the track where most incidents tend to occur.

For those not familiar with my shuffle racing in GT5, Nurb 24hrs with time change & weather was a popular tradition, and that's why I'm continuing it here.

There will be no races that are conducted fully in the dark, unless they're at SSR5 or Clubman obviously.

Clubman, Daytona, those don't give me fits in the dark, but I do not think I ever tried in the wet as well.

That should be OK for Nurb.

Thanks!

Actually I think if you're going to be in the dark, slowing everyone down with a wet track might be a good idea. :mischievous:

Well, at least I think maybe that's why I do better at dusk/twilight at Nurb in the rain than any race at SSR5. I so totally stink at SSR5.

You CAN get Daytona wet! :sly:

But I haven't tried that.

I've been testing the time change thing though.

And then looking at races & trying to figure out how the time works.

I worried that the progression would work differently on tracks with 24hrs compared to tracks that only have say 0800 to 17:50 or something like that (like silverstone, Brands, Autumn).
But at least it appears progression is the same on any track with time settings.

Not sure what happens yet though if it's not a 24hr clock... does it start over? does time stop?
Haven't tested that yet, and if anyone has, please let me know.

So anyway, the time settings are subject to adjustments.
At this point I won't be cutting tracks or adding tracks to the itineraries already posted.
But I may adjust laps or time settings slightly if needed based on new information.
However, once we're 48hrs before the race, I try not to make any changes, and I would definitely post to the thread announcing any changes, especially any large ones, with the reason for the change.

We did a enduro at Apricot hill and the clock is not 24 hours selectable, but it progresses through the 24 hour cycle. So if you select the latest time and keep racing the sun will rise.

Apricot Hill does let you select 00:00 to 23:50.

I just wrote it all down the day before yesterday, and I have it written down - Apricot as 00:00 - 23:50.

The only ones I found restricted to part-day are:

Silverstone 08:00 - 17:50
Brands Hatch 06:00 - 20:00
Ascari 10:00 - 17:50
Autumn Ring 09:00 - 06:00

Man I really miss the social groups option in the forum.

Now I'm searching the thread for the discussion about rims. :boggled:
Next week I'll be searching for this post.

I read somewhere that if the time is restricted to a certain time, it just stops there. Ascari for example will end at 17:50 and stay there. The 'Enduro' tracks have a 24hr cycle system so the sun will set and rise as usual.

So like the clock will just stop and everything stays that time for the rest of the race? ^^ Interesting. I figured that would be the case... only because that's how Toscana tarmac tracks worked in GT5.
Though I hoped that maybe it would recycle.
Not that it would make any sense either way of course.

I was going to hit the LIKE button on that - but didn't want it to look like I was liking the head banging. :sly:

It's fine. Come when you're able! 👍

Alright, so once I have all of these cars, I'll sign up for an event. :)

Update: I have purchased all the cars from the "low power" list, so would i be eligible to participate on the 15th?

Isn't the 15th a Wednesday? There is no race on Wednesday next week but there is one Thursday next week.👍

Anyone interested in this today? School was cancelled, so...
Lucky. You guys must be closer to the middle of the us because school keeps getting cancelled and its because of this polar vortex isn't it? I live right on the outside of the polar vortex in New York. No cancellations for me!!:grumpy:

I know this isn't really my job but :) is there anyone else other than the 7 people signed up today who will also be racing in the shuffle today?

No, I am outside of DC, in Northern Virginia. Never had school cancelled for "too danged cold" before, a new one on me.

I will be back in school for weekdays unless it is a Holiday (MLK, Presidents, etc) until late June.
