Hi all - with a long Sunday afternoon to waste, and no motor sports to watch, I figured it was time to try the Grand valley 300...

I have done no research, only just briefly looked at the common cars listed, and picked a car I know quite well...

Weapon of choice, a tuned S2000 '06 - PP 450 which I normally run on Sports Hards, to dominate the seasonal events it can enter, so I just switch to Sports Softs and jumped in..
[Note I run 0 TC and ABS set to just 1]

[Full spec to come with photos too]

Now I'm not the best driver and have no idea about the AI pit stops etc, so here goes..

SESSION 1
Laps 1 - 6;

So looking like I'm overpowered I lead before the end of Lap 2, but the NSX also rabbits from the pack.
Best lap 2.11.906 [told you I'm not that good!]
Tires looking good so far - did light them up once or twice though - will cost me in the long term if I can't control that!
End of lap 6 lead up to ~ 2s

Lap 7 - 12;

By end of lap 10 NSX dropping back, now ~ 3.5 behind me..
Lap 11 - Incident! Hit wall inside 2nd tunnel hard, as front(!) tires starting to struggle...by end of lap 12 only lead by 1.5s

not sure if its 3 stops @ 15 laps each or 2 @ 20 laps...

Lap 14;

After a sloppy 13th and a draft down the main straight the NSX within 1s at a point in the lap, 1.1s at end.

For next few laps I hold around 1.5s lead, having decided its 2 stops, at 20 & 40-42(?)
[hoping lower fuel lets me run a few laps longer??..]

Lap 18 - Contact!!
After a first bad hairpin at the 2nd the NSX nips up the inside and we battle for most of the lap, it end me leading by 0.8s!

Lap 19 another bad lap!
Tires shot - should have pitted and slid into backmarker puts me into the grave at the first hairpin and
the NSX takes us both - lead lost..

Lap 20
1.5 sec down to the NSX into the last tunnel so commit to pitting this lap - S:S and no fuel need a speedy session, the NSX does not pit.

SESSION 2
Lap 21
35s down on the NSX after the pitstop... Need fast laps!

Fast laps up to Lap 27, bunch of them in the 2.10 / 2.11 range

Lap 27 pass the NSX and then it pits!
1st checkpoint of lap 28 im 15s up..

More hammer time, need lots of time for my stop @ lap ~40 as will be taking on fuel as well...
Ah ha, by end of Lap 28 in up by 45s
[NSX crossed line before pit stop?]

End lap 30; Half way home, 46s lead, Fuel and tires ok, will pit around lap 40-42...

End of Lap 33;
45s lead, loosing front left and a couple of drift style moments :(
2.13 , 2.14 lap times at the moment
needing 7 or so good laps to pit with a lead?..

Laps 34-39
Got very messy towards the end, loosing masses of time - lead under 30s
Tires shot to bits, will pit on Lap 40

Lap 40..

Arrghhh big mistake, dipped rear left on to grass when exiting last corner, spun the car, almost missed the pit entry, nearly a 3 point turn to get into the pits!

Only 23 lts of fuel to go in the tank, so a quick stop? and fast out of the gate...

SESSION 3

End lap 41;
I'm in 2nd with 35.5s to make up, not sure how many laps I need to do that.. 10?
I know I'm much quicker on new tires..

Hot Laps all the way through to lap 49 & a draft down the main straight and I grab the lead into Lap 50 :)
Heading into a group of 3 back markers.... need to avoid the silly errors!

End lap 50 - 7s lead...

End of Lap 55 NSX pits and a 56s lead

A number of drifty laps, some deliberately ;)

End of Lap 57 I pit, exit down by 6s

Overtake NSX on Lap 59, and hold for a win of less than 2s (with an extra pit stop)

So final race time 2:16:20.875 with 3 stops, very slow to be honest I guess?

AVG LAP TIME ~2:16

Any comments folk?

Note all done before the 2.02 update to tire wear...
Will probably be a true 3 stop race @ 15,30 and 45...

{TBC - looking for comments etc}

If you going to 3 stop, you'll need to be quick, the fastest AI car (NSX probably) will stop twice, but with his 2nd stop late in the race.

You can do it with 2 stops if you conserve your tyres a bit, but don't wait to lap 20 if they're getting too worn as you'll lose too much time sliding around.

Good luck.

updated OP:

I'm heading for a 2 stop, will have to chase hard at the end I'm sure,

But if the NSX does stop a 2nd time near the end this will be easy.... :(
Hope to be in the lead already if he does...

Short update as writing at work :(

Now I'm racing against a car I will not see for another 10 or so laps...

All against the clock for now...
