So I just started playing Forza and let me say I love it! I'm using a Fanatec CSR with CSR pedals so I like to play with it on expert so its most realistic. I enjoy playing with the clutch and shifting, but my question is about the cars that have paddle shifters or sequential shifters. If I have it set on expert with the clutch/manual setting do I need to still use the clutch with cars that have paddle shifters? I just started playing so most of my cars are low end stuff with no paddles yet but was wondering when I move up a little. Also, during one race with it on expert I used the paddles a few times to shift with out the clutch to see if it would work. It worked fine, but I didn't get any extra bonus credits at the end of the race. Was that because I didn't use the clutch? Thanks

You certainly do still have to ! Bit wierd but thats how it is unfortunately !

I have my own question regarding Manual With Clutch for Pad Players because I struggle to gear down while braking - any tips?

Maybe off topic but must ask since it bothers me too much. How do you make the 6 speed fanatec shifter work with this game? I got csr with elite pedals and only the clutch works properly with this game. Everyting works fine with the pc or ps3.

You have to calibrate your 6 speed shifter before the very first time you use it. It is very easy to do. I would recommend downloading the manual from Fanatec's site.

Hmmm... Not sure then. I know mine works perfectly so the xbox and forza do support the 6 speed shifter. Maybe try recalibrating it? Sorry I can't help anymore man :boggled:

It'd require steady pressure on the left trigger with one finger, then briefly holding the left bumper with another while simultaneously pumping the right trigger and tapping the downshift button.

I have no idea why they didn't offer a "manual w/clutch button you can use but you don't actually have to use it to shift because that's never been a good idea for a gamepad" option.

When I used a controller I had the clutch on the "A" button which is far easier than using the LB button. Gearing up or down using the "A" button as your clutch is much easier as you just have to press both buttons at the same time when shifting, in your case this would be pressing A and X at the same time. You should have no issues like this:tup:

^^ This. Its a huge advantage in acceleration, a but awkward at first, but then becomes natural. Make sure you blip the throttle on down shifts, or set the rear end up with very low deceleration to avoid locking up the drive wheels if you downshift without rev matching properly.

Yup. Also, when I was awaiting my Fanatec GT2 to be delivered, I looked at a lot of YouTube videos on how to Heel-and-Toe down shift. I noticed most if not all of the people were depressing the clutch during the entire braking zone. I did that, and quickly found out that doesn't fit my driving style. I like to get my gear changes done right away, so during the rest of the braking zone, I would have the clutch disengaged, and come to find out, you still lose engine revs while it's disengaged (and not blipping the gas pedal because I'm not down shifting anymore). So, I would engage the clutch and lose my back-end. Way around this, should this fits your driving style? Well, only depress the clutch pedal while shifting, and engaging between shifts. It's a lot more foot work, but it did wonders for me. I'm smooth as silk now. :sly:

Or you could just down shift slower... :odd::lol:

I do the same as Dynamicz: go to My Profile > Options > Controller and scroll down to switch the handbrake and clutch buttons. Then you can shift up with A+B and down with A+X. You'll get used to it quickly, you can keep your throttle down and still be quicker than shifting without clutch :P
