Are the pictures supposed to show Mazdas versus Hondas, or can we just include one or the other?

I'm assuming that also means you can't have, say, two Mazdas in a shot? All shots have to be single-car?

This is a neat idea 👍

Yeah, just a single car for this one. That could change with different themes though. It will depend on what the theme chooser wants. Glad you like the idea. 👍

Good job TF! 👍
Hope this competition will run well for the first week

I think it's a pretty silly idea. I mean... It's just silly.
Suppose it's: Honda: (22) 6-2-5-4-5 Mazda: (18) 4-8-1-3-2
The voting WILL be based on the quality of the shots, not the popularity of the makers. (I mean people vote for good looking shots, e.g. not "just because it has maker X in it")
And yet the latter will be reflected in determining the winner.
The Mazda#2's shot would be considered the most popular (best) shot, but Honda#1's poster would be the winner, not because of his shot, but just because the 'overall' popularity of other shots of that maker. I mean... in a system where the determination of the winner depends on a non-individual factor (which is the case here), the the 'winner' shouldn't be individual either.
In other words: in this system, the winner is co-determined by a factor that is not represented in the votes. And I think that if that's the case, there's something wrong.

Yes, i understand it isnt perfect. I just thought it would be good to have five different vehicles to represent each manufacturer. Its the first week, so it can still be changed, but i'd like to get some more opinions from people whether they think it should stay the way it is, or be changed.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I don't think this comp is to determine exactly which manufacturer is the best, just to get a good representation of Honda's and Mazda's best offerings. I just hope that there is a fair amount of pics for both sides.

therefore ... if you want to win this competition
you have to wait until friday or sat
and see which manufacturer has better pictures submitted yet
then you submit your best pictures for that manufacturer
that way you will have a bigger chance to win
but less chance of being picked

I don't mind the current setup. Yes, perhaps we'll get a situation like MM said, but it's not a very serious "X manufacturer is better than Y" thing, or at least that's my impression. It's more about getting the best both have to offer, to see what people can come up with for whichever side.

Though, perhaps we should figure out some kind of reward if the top-voted picture isn't on the winning side. Because in that case, that person's picture was the best one. I can't exactly think of a way to go about it though...

perhaps you could have two polls, and you vote for the best Mazda shot and the best honda shot, and then halfway through the week, you set up a new poll with the winning Honda shot and the winning Mazda shot to decide which pic is better. Could create a lot of clutter, but.... oh well.

I like this idea, if it doesn't create too much clutter.

instead of saying honda versus mazda, i think it should be honda and mazda, cause u said they shouldnt be in the same shot..

seeing as i am the only one who has posted and not complained, i'd like to say something. Maybe there is something wrong with the current setup, but its a brand new comp. idea's (helpful ones) will come. Soon, it will be a great comp.I love the idea. And for voting for the winning manufacturer, that is a little bit of a bad idea, cuz then people who like one shot better, but go with another just cuz they prefer that manufacturer. I have an idea, each person posts two pictures, one of a manufacturer, and another of the opponent manufacturer, therefor, you have both so people dont chose based on their likings. Then, people vote for the best set. I dont know, maybe my idea sucks...

That might work. We could have a top ten poll for five days, then take the top two pics(one from each manufacturer) and have a two pic poll for the last two days. It would be kinda like playoffs at the end of every week, lol. As for clutter, it would only be one extra thread for two days. Anybody else like this idea?

I thought it would allow people to choose both the best Honda and the best Mazda shot, and it would stop people voting on a worse pic just because they prefer the opposing manufacturer. And, to prevent this from happening in the final 2-day poll, you could post both winners (Honda winner and Mazda Winner) in the Hall Of Fame.

this idea I like. There are however issues with the current competition model but as with other competitions the wrinkles will be quickly and easily ironed out.

Now that i think about it a little bit more, i like the idea of just having two different polls to begin with. I'll just have two polls with a top ten for each manufacturer for five days. Then i'll take the two winners and make a new poll for the last two days. As long as the mods dont have a problem with it.

Better PM the mods about the extra polls, in the meantime I need to go pick a car for this....
