Tyson's like one in a million specimen though, you are not. How about Tyson with a black belt against Tyson without it? Who'd win then?

Obviously MA tyson. Bu say the tyson from today with MA skills was to go against the tyson who was in his prime before getting sent to jail then the younger tyson would win easy.

If say david coulthard was a black belt at jiu jitsu he would still get a good kicking by vinnie jones.

If anyone doubts the power of jiu jitsu versus boxing or kickboxing just watch MMA some day. You see kickboxers being put in an impossible position, in which they can't deal a punch or kick anymore. In any real life situation anyone from the Gracy family would break every bone of a pub brawler's body.

By the way, people talk about black belts like that's the final thing. Like you're the uber master right away. You're not. Then another range of degrees comes up. Black belt means 1st dan and it goes up all the way to 10th dan. I believe to become 4th dan or higher you should at least have won several big championships so I bet you that anyone with a 4th dan black belt would be able to whoop Tyson's ass. Just not at boxing.

Yeah I agree with that 100%. But for us mere normal civilians MA doesnt help as much as people and movies would like us to think.

Not against a Tyson no.... but an average joe with a black belt will whoop the ass of an average Joe without one.... and average joes are average joes because most people are average Joes.

Got it? :dopey:

Besides that if boxing would have had belts Tyson would have had a black one.

Omnis
Usually it's 10th-1st Kyu, then 1st-10th Dan.

Yep. But nobody in a normal western country will ever get a 10th dan at a respected style. The only 10th dan karatekas are 70+ year old Japanese guys who lived on top of a mountain for ages.

There are different types of capoeira.... one that is more like dancing, one that you see around the most, but also full contact. That style is usually found in Brazil more. Though capoeira isn't really the most efficient style unless you're playing tekken. :D
There´s two kinds of capoeira, "capoeira de angola" which is the original one and "capoeira regional" that came later.

Capoeira de angola is slower, more based on ground moves and it has more contact. It also involves culture, religion and philosophy in it. This is found more often in Bahia, where it all started.

Capoeira regional started when capoeira got more popular. It´s fast paced, with acrobatic moves and it´s played just for fun. This is the most popular kind of capoeira here, and I guess in other countries it´s the same.

Edit: Sorry, I got mistaked here. Capoeira regional is the one that involves more contact.

That's what my kid brother tells me too. He's a lightweight cage match fighter(amateur UFC, basically). He says once he start putting holds on his opponets, punches and kicks can help you very little. He's record is only 4-0 so far, but I think he's won all of them within 3, 4 minutes. I try not to p*ss him off. :scared:

It would be interesting to see that full contact capoeira, I wonder what exactly the regulations for that would be like. I mean, what would keep a kickboxer from not being a capoeira fighter? Just do a backflip and then kick the hell out of the opponent. :D

I saw a demonstration of capoeira twice, both times very impressive. One time in a club in Spain, which was good, but unfortunately you had assholes in the audience who had to ruin it by flicking their cigarette butts at them who were thrown out with the quickness. Another time at a martial arts event in the Netherlands. Capoeira is definitely more audience friendly than karate. Even though I had 3 hours of karate training earlier that day, the katas that the ex-european champion was showing almost made me fall asleep. It LOOKS so easy. :D

Having a brother like that would be so handy. You can go around and start trouble and he'll finish it for you. :D:D:D

Don't give me any ideas, smelly! Besides, I used to kick his ass all the time(like any other big brothers do), so I'm not so sure..... :D

By the way, I'm so glad that my karate teacher is good at blocking attacks. I almost kneed him in the nuts (accidently because he came towards me while I tried to kick (mae geri, only kick I'm decent at :P)). I probably would have been dead if I would have connected. :D:D

Tyson was scary to watch in his prime. He had what it takes to put anyone out, given the preparation for such a feat. He's a boxer, though... I think, as a boxer, he wouldn't do extremely well in K1 or Pride or UFC. However, if he trained enough and became multi-disciplined, he certainly would have the heart and the overall insanity to be a winner.

I still hate him, though. Haha. I'd love to see Sakuraba or Crocop put him out cold.

I don't hate Tyson. Sure he's a raging maniac beast but other than that he is a great guy. Has some great sayings. Behind the monster there's also a man. I saw an interview with him and he seemed like a real person to me.

Him entering a K1 ring would be near suicide. He's better off doing porno.

Hahaha. Yeah. I mean, I don't HATE him...but I do dislike him, especially with his bankruptcy and the holyfield incident.

Did he ever fight Bob Sapp? He would've been utterly destroyed. I can't believe the balls on that guy for even messing with Sapp in the first place.

My sensei at Judo was a level 8 black belt and he was like 45. Tough old SOB, too. Oh, and my mom's friend's friend is a level 2 blackbelt in Karate.

I saw this 70 year old guy on the FIGHT Channel who was 10th Dan. He was beating up thugs with his cane in a demo. It was pretty damn cool, but I think he would've been shot at least twice. hahaha.

I've done some traing in Thai with Pele and my mate Tricia McKeary every now and then, not that great at it but it helps keep me fit.

Isn't Ninjutsu mostly about being sneaky?
Yes. They were like ancient Japanese C.I.A. Mostly intelligence work, but they were also assassins. From what I understand, they never dressed in black suits like we see on TV. They did whatever they had to do to blend in. It's speculated that Ninjas often dressed like peasants and farmers.

Haha I saw that discovery documentary as well. They also fought with every day tools. They did dress in black suits, but blending in with the darkness isn't always the best camo.
