Matte Paint Chip Craziness

A lot of people are trading matte paint chips, X1s, chrome paint chips etc. I can understand why people want the X1s. I can also understand why people want the chrome chips, as chrome is just awesome.

Question is.. why do people want matte paint chips? I know they're rare, but there must be another reason besides rareness that people want them. I've looked at some matte painted cars in the photomode subforum, and i'd rather use a normal paint chip on a car instead of a matte paint chip. Cars with matte paint just look flat and bland..very little to no reflections.

Or maybe its just be and i just dislike matte paint?

Throw a coat of matte black on a classic muscle car. It may change how you feel about mattes.

👍

I wasn't a fan of matte paints until I saw a friend's matte black, old skool Camaro RM car, it looked awesome.

I haven't painted any of my cars in matte, but, my opinion of it has changed.

Now I just wish I could have my car in primer :(
Seriously have seen some custom cars before being painted and they look seriously mean, just a lick of clear coat of the primer and that would suit me.
But I do like the matte stuff too.

I have about 9 Matte paint items. You get them every time your garage car count increases by 30. I think you get chrome silver around every 300 cars. I have yet to use my Matte paints but I think they look good on most cars. Not as good as chrome silver though.

I'm about to ask the world's most stupid question:

Do matte paint chips have the word ''matte'' in their name??

I have 280 cars, I'm always playing around spraying different cars different colours (my 458 Italia has had 9 resprays) but I don't remember seeing ''matte'' in the names of any of my colours in GT Auto.

I have the trophy for getting 280 (or whatever) different colours as well.

World's second most stupid question:

Are these matte colours in my GT auto paint collection or are they in the paint chips I've accrued in ''ITEMS''??

(I'm currently doing Suzuka 1000kms endurance B spec so can't check for myself)

Indeed.

If you go to your items list, and sort the paints alphabetically, matte paints will have the word MATTE at the start, e.g. matte purple.

With 280 cars you should have 9 Matte paint items.

To me this is horribly flawed. Why is accumulating a massive amount of cars worth a reward? Personally I want to sell the cars I have no interest in driving or using (ie. the garbage you win most of the time), and I only want to garage cars that I am interested in. So, because of this, I am penalized and will not receive the full volume of matte paints? I've scratched my head so many times with this game my scalp is raw.

Cool, cheers guys..

I've never, once, looked at the paint in my ''items'' list, I just presumed these were duplicates of everything in my paint selection in GT auto, accept I could send them to friends.

Appreciated :)

👍

You are not being penalized, you are opting not to participate so you are not getting the reward. It is exactly the same as me not having the Lotus Elise because I did not complete the Top Gear Intermediate Challenge. Players are awarded for participation in challenges and the matte and chrome paints are a reward for collectors meeting certain goalposts. How is that penalization when you choose not to participate in the collection aspect of the game?

i'm currently lvl 24 both a and s-spec, i got 119 cars, and only have 2 matte paints, and 0 chrome :(, the worst part is that both matte paints are the same and fugly :(
(light red matte) im soon gonna check out which one i get with my next car, (if i get any at all)

I am being penalized because I feel I am being penalized. And that's all that matters.

It's a fad that's taken off recently. People think it looks good, but it's getting overused.

Exactly, Black and matte black used to be a sign of authority. Now every idiot thinks they're tough.

Dude, thats ridiculous. There's no feelings involved in gaming. It's so easy to get credits in this game, and you get so few for selling used cars, there's no point in not keeping them.

I am not a robot, and therefore I have feelings.

1.
It's easy to get credits... yeah, race the Am Championship and win 117k for 3 mins work. Repeat repeat repeat and maybe someday when I'm an old man I can purchase the 20mil Jaguar.

2.
The point in not keeping them is that I don't want my garage cluttered with scrap metal like the Daihatsu Midget.

Exactly, you choose not to participate in collecting. This means you will not reap the rewards of collecting. This is not penalization, this is the result of your choice not to do something. You may feel penalized, but you are the one making the decision not to earn the paints.

I am penalized because I don't want to participate in the collection activity. Nevertheless I am still penalized.
Penalized definition = Subject to some form of punishment.
I am being punished for not wanting to collect. Sad... but true.

Not getting something because you choose not to do what it takes to receive it is not punishment.

If you truly were being penalized, you would have something you already have taken away from you.

So if you were to get a beating at the hands of your papa that isn't punishment in your eyes? He isn't taking anything away from you. He's giving something to you.
