Mazda 787b goodness.

There's been 1.4 liter turbo'd engines producing 1500bhp and more, so what. Bhp per liter isn't something to rate a cars enigne on.

Is there anything other than the car sitting there? I got bored and quit.

It has a strange idle, thought that was mildly interesting.

I agree, thats a pretty cool idle. Cool car, although the video could use a little more, its still a good find. 👍

Is that the test track thats in GT3/4? And It perfors well against F1 cars as well it would seem. I don't know about you guys, but if I had the chance to take it to the shops and back, I'd damn well give it a go!

Good video, very raw engine note, but piercing at high revs. It's a shame that they put the 'boring' part of the video at the start, IMO.

Are you referring to the short video near the end at Fuji where the 787B drives past following a single seater? If so, I think this is misleading. The 787B would not be as quick as an F1 car (from 1991) on most tracks (though at Le Mans it probably would be quicker due to the bumpy surface and long straights in the 1991 configuration).

I see you clowns don't respect the engineering feat that is a 4 rotor.

Tsk tsk, don't be so arrogant guys, get over yourselves.

A bit later on in the video they drive it around a track.

x4 (or x2?)

Only kidding :P Well it doesn't apply to the 787B (it's NA), but it's a funny rotary pic!

Great car, I'm saving up for the Autoart 1:18 model.

Watched all 9:54 minutes.
I really dont think there is any other sound in the world that tops that!!! To see and hear one in person would be an amazing experience. I love how it sounds when its at idling. :dopey: :dopey: :dopey:
Thanks for sharing. 👍

Well that car sounds like pure bliss. Man do I love the rotaries....Thanks Dr. Felix Wankel!

A couple of years ago Road and Track had an editor who got to drive the car. They ran a whole writeup about it as well. Interesting read...

That thing makes an unholy racket! I mean, the 3-rotors they use in competition now are noisy, but holy crap, that 787B is loud!

Rotary drag cars are most common here in NZ and Australia. Puerto Rico also has a hell of a lot.

More then 4 or 6 cylinders put it that way.

Leonidae
2.6l quadrotary producing 700bhp N/A.. repeat that, yankees, and you have respect. :sly:

The vid said 700ps, is that the same thing as BHP? I always thought that 700ps was like 8-900bhp. I'm not sure though.

1PS = 0.986hp, therefore 700PS is about 690hp.

For most practical purposes it's reasonable to consider PS and hp as being the same.
