Since there was a sudden burst in racers I think we need a preseason race while some more people sign-up. Does anyone have any suggestions for tracks not on the schedule. I was thinking Midfield. What do you guys think?

El Capitan would be fun :) Midfield works too, though.

How many laps are going to be run on each course during regular season?

I may be interested, since I'm an MX-5 nut. However, I do have preparations for an upcoming LAN meeting coming up, so I may not be able to race every round. What will be the timeline for the races? 1 week to race and submit, or longer? Will we be racing with AI (preferred) or just time attack?

With AI (Arcade mode), as Time Trial doesn't take tire wear into account. (Also the original post says Arcade mode :) )

I wonder if the difficulty setting matters. I was doing practice laps using 5 for difficulty and was eventually able to run past 4 of the 5 AI cars (there was, of course, the obligatory single ridiculously fast car that I couldn't even catch sight of).

Time Trial and Single Race (with AI) are both sub-menus within Arcade Mode. ;)
Post 1 didn't specify, but thanks for clearing that up! 👍
I'll happily run cleanly with the AI, more fun than hotlapping in my opinion! :D

questions:

are closed tops prohibited like they are IRL?

are Sports:Medium (SM) better for competition than Sports:Hard (SH) at this kind of low power?

race length is almost 3 times shorter than real MX5 cup races. was this intentional?

what are the rules on AI?
 
Hmmm, first post hasn't been updated in some time. The entry list should have 12 racers now.

Welcome
Welcome to the GTPlanet Mazda MX-5 Cup. This race series will be somewhat like the real MX-5 Cup. The MX-5 Cup will consist of 8 races. Each Race will be 20-30 miles.

Car
Everyone will be required to use a 2004 Mazda MX-5 1800 RS

Rules
-Will be ran in arcade mode
-Set weight to -10%
-Set penalty to "speed limiter"
-Set tire wear to strong
-Must use S2 Tires (Sports Medium)
-Must keep at least 2 wheels on the track at all times (rumble strips count as part of the track)
-Must be ran in A-Spec mode
-If you are cought cheating you will get a 3 race suspension

Points
Points will be earned like this
1st - 15
2nd - 13
3rd - 12
4th - 10
5th - 9
6th - 8
7th - 7
8th or worse - 6
You must submit a time to receive any points.
Most points at the end of the series wins!

Horsepower Penalties
Horsepower penalties will be issued like this
6th or worse- +5%hp
5th- +4%hp
4th- +3%hp
3rd- +2%hp
2nd- No Change
1st- No Change

These penalties will be for only the race follwoing the race they were issued on. Penalties can not add up.
(ex. In week 1 you get a +5%hp penalty. In week 2 you race using a +5%hp penalty and you finish 3rd and get a +2%hp penalty. In week 3 you will race using a +2%hp penalty not 7%hp penalty.)

1- Infineon Raceway - Sports Car Course (8 Laps)
2- Fuji Speedway 80's (10 Laps)
3- Suzuka Circuit (7 Laps)
4- Apricot Hill Raceway (9 Laps)
5- Twin Ring Motegi - Road Course (8 Laps)
6- Tsukuba Circuit (18 Laps)
7- Laguna Seca Raceway (10 Laps)
8- Nurburgring Nordschleife (2 Laps)

If you think I should add or delete any tracks let me know and I'll take it into consideration.

There may be some preseason races while we wait for more people to sign-up.

Guys, I'm back n i see that we're still the same count as i left, may be we can do a couple of races before the cup starts ;)
