  • Total voters

Just to let people know, I am still working on specs, for now just break your cars in. It looks as if so far Monday will be race day, this will be decided once all votes are in.

Edit Specs have now been updated, make sure you Break In your car, took around 800 miles foe me. Stock power should be 123HP once the car is Broken In.

Just voted for the race day. I keep an eye on this thread in case one of days I've voted for is selected 👍

Once oil change is performed then seems no more room for hp increment..

When I get a chance tomorrow I will take a look at my settings again, may even buy a new stock miata.

I have now looked at the specs, and they have been updated accordingly.

Are the specs based on any real world championship? If there is a rules and spec doc I'd be happy to review too if it helps?

Also, perhaps the 800 mile run-in may put people off. Perhaps better to start with a new stock car to make it fair for all?

I am happy for as much help as possible. Spec racing the Miata/MX5/Roadster is mainly done in America under SCCA and NASA.

In real life they use the 1.6 and the 1.8 Miata. I have based the specs on the 1.6 Miata. Originally I found a racing team and their Miata car specs, and based this series off this. The issue is that the cars have anywhere from 115-135bhp currently it is just the power of the cars which are the issue.

I need to work out the HP of the with no power modifications with just an oil change. I need to grind some money and buy a stock car to check this. The rest of the rules and specifications are ok, I may need to read the rules of the real life championship to make sure I have everything covered.

I would of had a little more work completed on this idea, however due to family commitments i have had to be elsewhere.

I'm definitely interested in this. Sign me up mate. 👍
I'll be rocking #18 like in the old days of the Cappy Championship, and the color will be Gran Turismo Red Metallic with Schwarz (black) wheels.

Reckon I'm going to throw my hat in and hope that I don't end up causing a major pileup!

Race Number: 92

Colour: GT Gunmetal 008-W (Green) with Polished Metal Metallic wheels

@coxbox

For info, a new stock car shows 118bhp @ 6500rpm on the dealership and 117bhp @ 6500rpm in the garage menu, with 358pp
After applying oil change, this jumps to 123bhp @ 6500rpm in the garage, and 364pp

I had a look at the specs in the following nasa doc: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/spec_miata_rules.pdf
Should be easy enough to follow. Basically no engine, gearbox or drivetrain mods, racing suspension and weight reduction.

To make the spec simpler, perhaps simply require a min weight, and let the player use the weight reduction and ballast options themselves as long as they meet the minimum weight?

Looking forward to getting this started...
If you would like me to do any other testing let me know, always happy to buy another '5.

P.S. I assume you'll not be applying 18.5. All anti-lock braking systems (ABS) must be disabled. ;)

Edit:
Did a little more testing with a new MX and required changes (in order applied):

Car £17000
Oil £250
Weight Reduction Stage 3 £32000
Window Weight Reduction £3000
Carbon Bonnet £4500
Body Rigidity £17500
Racing Hard Suspension £3200
Racing Brakes £7000
Front Aero Wing £4000
Total £88450

This gives you:
385 pp
123 bhp
821 kg

Setting a min weight of 900kg will allow player to position ballast how best suits their style. This knocks the PP down to 368pp.

Final Configuration:
368 pp
123 bhp
900 kg

This is great thanks this will be the specs we will use.

I'm interested depending on the day and time :)

Welcome there, if you can use the poll at the top once we have enough votes I will decide on the time.

Great days indeed:sly:;)

"UPDATE"

Hi guys, just to let you know what is happening. We have a good few sign ups now. In a weeks Time I will finalise the race day and time, so far this will be Tuesday.

We have the rules set in place now, you are allowed to change the ballast position as long as the weight is 900kg, you can also adjust the break balance, we will of course use ABS set to 1. The final race in the series will be 1 hr endurance race.

Keep updated with this thread, and hopefully I will have more news for you!

A practice lobby has been put up for those who would like to get the feel for these machines and to run some times with the other racers.
Lobby code is: 1472-4711-0167-3386-3632
Hope to see you all there! :D

Good race tonight guys, from now on use Sports Hard tires, Comfort softs are right on the limit,m and have too much under steer. I will hope to hold more test races over the coming weeks, to lock in the specs. Please keep an eye on this thread, pictures from tonight will be up soon.

Edit: Pictures have now been uploaded, I will also be producing some information on track etiquette, so people know who has the right to the corner entry when overtaking. Watching the reply there was a few close incidence, slight bumping is OK but , we need to keep it clean. Other then that good race guys, keep posted on the thread and any updates.

Another EDIT: See OP for additional rules and racing information, can the drivers who have not given me their racing colours do this by the end of the week.

Good race everyone. Sorry if I was driving rather recklessly, kinda bent under pressure. :/
