So there I was with Unreal and Live! with nothing but frustration and aggrivation. So I decided not to trade in UC until I showed my friends. Instead I bought Mechassault (Highly rated game.) bumping up my total spending on this sorted affair to $162+ (US Dollars)
What I really wanted was a driving game (Maybe we'll rant on that another day) but that was not to be, so Mechassault got the nod.
So I get it home, and load it up only to find that it has the exact same control issues as Unreal Championship, except it had even less options to customize.....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mother 🤬 son of a 🤬. F:censored: Micro:censored:soft, G:censored: 🤬 :censored:er, Gonna tear Bill 🤬 🤬 a new 🤬, may he rot in 🤬 🤬 hell.

Oh, but the downloadable content is free in this game. :)
The graphics are kind of poor so far though, I think they clean them up for the commercials and screenshots much like EA did with Lord of the Rings: The Two towers game.

nah, I like the Xbox despite the source, I just can't take several things about it, the first being how Xbox Live! is set up. Second is quality control in games, as there seems to be very little. There were some truly great games last year, but nothing to get me excited since the spring. And too many big name games turned out to be dogs (wreckless, Blinx for example) because they were rushed to make deadlines.
One thing I like about Nintendo is that they hold games back (or cancel altogether) when things aren't going just right.
Sony doesn't have this problem either because they deal in sheer volume. When Shinobi and Rygar turned out to be so-so, no one cared because there were 30 other games that came out that month to choose from (some better, most worse.)
I'd rather play 5 great games a year than 50 bad ones.
My Rants today were based on the fact that 2 games that could have been my favorites for the next month ended up being a massive waste of my resources thanks to something that should have been a no-brainer. (And that Xbox Live! is a scam dressed in sheeps clothing.)

At least you didnt buy steel battalion and go through all this. (i'm not speaking from experience)

Xbox live is gonna be a pain, and the only reason i'd want it is the dl content. so instead of buying a 50 item, i'll wait for the stuff from xbox magazine.

i thought about getting Mechassault, but i didnt like what i played. so i got Timesplitters 2 and i cant put it down. now i'll go back to some monkey assistant timesplitters 2 fun.

No way I'm spending 200 on one game. :P

Mechassault is decent, I'm used to the control scheme now, but it's really not as good as what I use on Timesplitters 2 (and everything else)

Mechassault also has free downloadable content unlike Unreal Championship which costs extra for maps and whatnot.

It's a shame Timesplitters 2 isn't on Live! That's the best FPS since Halo. (Actually Metroid is, but people from Gamefaqs will hunt me down and kill me like a dog for saying its a FPS out of parentheses. ;) )

TimeSplitters 2 is good, eh? Ok it's next on the hit list.

I don't know that MechAssault is all that great of a game outside of the lack of controls. It almost seems like a kids' game with some occational foul language. Quite honestly, I have vague recollections of a Nintendo (original style) game where you walked a giant beast around and smashed stuff. I always thought how much of a kids' game it was because skill and planning had nothing to do with it. Basically point it in the right direction and pull the trigger.

timesplitters 2 is crazy fun. 4 human characters plus 12 bots on screen all running at 60fps.

and secrets out the yingyang to unlock.

Are you playing on XBox or PS2? Do they compare pretty well with eachother? I'd like to support PS2 before XBox, but I also have more XBox friends and network linking would be an option there.

I've got TS2 on the PS2, and it runs perfectly even when playing in split screen modes.
Lately I've been wary of Xbox ports after getting the short end with SSX tricky and seeing how bad NFS:HP2 turned out. They Should be better, but if it ain't broke....

And where is the foul language in Mechassault? It's a great Mech game with nice graphics and cool mechs. No foul language that I've seen though...
