Mel's Surprise Spec Racing Club - Aussie V8s - Saturday - 6 PM GMT+1! New members welcomeOpen

We don't repeat cars too often. If you want to be in this race, you need to get GT6 before we run it. This way, you get to participate. :) Go find your mailman and shove a shoe in his PS3 or something. He's been playing too much GT6.
I was thinking Arson, but my GT6 will be here soon, no mailmen are involved, otherwise they'd all be somewhere that isn't land or sea.

Just as a reminder to anyone reading through the thread: The more, the merrier! Feel free to join. You will be welcomed by all, regardless of talent, practice or race experience.

All we request is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. As you can probably already tell, we're a friendly group with the intentions of bringing only the most fun racing to GT6.

This isn't our first series/club - as you can see, I've organized four seasons of the highly successful series "International Touring Car Championship." This club will be super easy to organize and super fun for all of the drivers. Why not sign up? Just post your PSN ID and you're in!

Love the simplicity.

Love the simplicity.

I strive for simplicity. ITCC is very complicated for beginners, IMO. What started out as being a beginners' series quickly became a battlefield of guys ranging from WRS Div. 2 Gold to beginners... And I hate to see people who need help to adjust and learn new techniques to go faster being left behind completely because they need a setup and don't have the same amount of time to practice.

This series will do the polar opposite - we'll still have beginners and Div. 2 Gold guys, no question - but everyone will be grouped according to skill levels and reminded to just have fun. :)

Really keen on doing this, just a tad too early for my time zone sadly. :(

Vote for your car of choice for week #2:

No worries at all, this will not be the only timezone we race. This is for the first few weeks, until we get a steady group going. We will make a timeslot that is suitable for Aussie and NZ players. However, until we get a larger player base gor the group (so that we can have different timezones and divisions based on skill levels) this is the only one available. Fear not, you've made the big step by subscribing to the thread, and you should check back approximately once a week to see if a timezone/timeslot is more appropriate.

We will accommodate as many people as possible. At this time, it just doesn't make much sense to try to organize the few players we have across a number of groups - this will change as more and more drivers join. :)

I mean, the time is jut about perfect, but if it was perhaps two hours later? Not really keen to get up at 5 AM on a Sunday for practice

That is ITCC 4 timeslot, actually. I have other obligations. What I mean, though, is that you could see one for North America and Australia/New Zealand at 9 AM in NZ, and that would be immediately after ITCC 4. Or, indeed, if someone else agrees to host, (since I'll be busy,) during the ITCC timeslot, or later on the Sunday afternoon in your timezone (while I'm asleep.)

This system gives us great flexibility.

Understood. 👍

Do we purchase the BRZ or will it be loaned during the event?

The GT6 lobby option "One Make Race" will be utilized this weekend, meaning that we can simply use the car in the lobby. :) There will be weeks where cars must be purchased, but that will come at a later date - I don't want people to have to purchase a $500,000 car for this one weekend. :)

I've decided - I'll start a conversation with you if anything comes up, allowing us to run a New Zealand timeslot. 👍

I'm interested in this, I'll get online right away!

Disconnected after quali and can't connect again. Maybe some other time then...

Sorry, PS3 froze. I'll be right back. File reset...

Meanwhile, everyone can run a few more practice laps while they wait. We backed out for Matheus to re-enter the race. When I re-join, the race will start with a new qualifier. Grid order will be announced according to previous qualifying and new qualifying - fastest time out of both sessions will count.

Ok.

Wooo, fun race with our first winner, @GTracer98. Very close finish, 0.6 seconds! :D

Best lap of the day goes to @gokartman78... During qualifying, he ran a 1:26.879.

Fastest race lap is @ITCC_Andrew for his 1:27.704.

 to everyone who took part. Once we get a few splits going, the racing should be closer once the talent pool becomes larger. Right now we have about a 3-4 second gap between fastest to slowest, so I know things aren't perfect yet.

Buuuut, the idea is a good start! :D
