The storming new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe is set to cost from around £62,000 and take on the BMW M4
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe has been revealed in these latest official pictures. The firm’s answer to the
BMW M4, the car will debut at
this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and go on sale at the start of 2016.
Mercedes’ legendary tuning arm AMG isnt known for being particularly subtle, and a teaser video of the scorching new Mercedes-AMG C 63 AMG Coupe released yesterday (below) is proof of that.
We’ve only just seen the regular
2016 C-Class Coupe in all its glory, but this version takes things a step further. Replacing the range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with a whopping great twin-turbo V8, the most hardcore
C-Class to date will produce up to 503bhp and 700Nm of torque. It should be able to complete the 0-62mph sprint in just under four seconds.
What does that sound like? Well this video gives you more than a hint. The undisguised C 63 Coupe is seen belting round a circuit at high speed with smoke pouring from its tyres, as is the true AMG style. No effort is made to hide the exterior design, either.
Based on the swoopy new C-Class Coupe, the AMG version adds muscular styling garnish including beefier air intakes and bumpers, flared wheelarches, chunky wheels and brakes and quad exhausts. The interior will get a racier seat design but will mostly remain true to the standard two-door’s layout.
Like the C63 AMG saloon the coupe is expected to be available in two power outputs. The standard car, likely to cost around £62,000, gets 469bhp, but for an extra £7,000 a thunderous ‘S’ version can be had with the full 503bhp and an electronic limited-slip diff. All the power heads through the rear wheels (as you can see in the video) through a seven speed automatic gearbox.
As with the previous C 63 AMG model, it’s very likely things will get even more ludicrous when AMG gets round to working on a Black Series edition of the C63. The previous car had 510bhp, but thanks to turbocharging we can expect a fair bit more from this one, possibly more than 600bhp.
