The 2011 Mansory Cormeum is proof that a show car can grab attention for all the wrong reasons. Based on the sleek Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG sports car, the Cormeum makes its official debut this week during the annual Geneva Auto Show. The car will be certain to turn heads in the halls of the Palexpo, but we suspect most people will be left wondering what was so wrong with the original SLS.

According to Mansory, the Cormeum is named after an aria ("Vide Cor meum"). But the hyper-aggressive styling and complete carbon-fiber makeover strikes all the wrong visual notes. The iconic Mercedes-Benz grille and three-pointed star of the SLS give way to a revised front fascia that looks like it came off a Klingon warship.

More is Definitely Less

Mansory has lightened the entire car by 198 lb., but you'd never know it by the amount of bulky aerodynamic pieces fitted onto the Cormeum. The new front bumper assembly feeds extra air to an enlarged radiator, which, according to Mansory, reduces front lift while improving airflow throughout the engine bay.

A Better View Under the Hood

The engine modifications are more tasteful, somewhat in tune with the spirit of the SLS AMG. Mansory has bumped the engine's compression and fitted a sports air filter and stainless steel exhaust, which boosts power from 563 to 660 bhp, although an 800-bhp version of the Cormeum is in development). The 7-speed automatic remains the only transmission on offer.

Exclusive alloy wheels (20-in. front, 21-in. back) are fitted with high-performance Michelin rubber. New springs and dampers lower help the center of gravity by 0.7 in. No word yet as to how much of a premium Mansory plans to charge for the Cormeum, but a standard Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG does have a base price of $185,750.
