The target for the W25 design team was the known quantity of the early 1930's Italian cars, and this was more than met. Outwardly, their car was far less unconventional than the Auto Union Type A, but the design brought together for the first time in a conventional, front-engined, Grand Prix car the elements of independent front & rear suspension, a gearbox and differential attached to the frame and therefore sprung weight, and hydraulic brakes. The M25 straight-eight followed orthodox Mercedes practice, in that individual cylinders, in two pairs, were combined with a welded-on water jacket. It proved to have great development potential: in it's first 3.36 litre form it gave 325 bhp early in 1934; 354 bhp later that year; the 3.71 litre M25AB developed 398 bhp, and the 3.99 litre M25B later in 1935 gave 430 bhp; the 4.3 litre M25C had a 462 bhp maximum output, and in the 4.7 litre M25E this was up to 494 bhp in 1936. Keeping ahead in the power race was simple compared with meeting the weight limit. Wherever possible holes were drilled in the chassis and ancillary components for lightness.

Well done Huks 👍

I did check for this car with the search function and didn't find it mentioned.

With the car coming to game in the future, this thread is null & void so I'll request that it is deleted.
Why delete, why not only suggest another car on this thread? :P

Threads rarely get deleted, they just get locked. You have 2 options here:

1) Report your own OP and ask to have it locked. I did that for one that I posted that turned out to be a duplicate thread.

2.) Change the title and OP to a different car. That will be fine.

That supercharger whine and straight 8 exhuast note.

This footage & audio is probably the best example I've ever seen of this awesome beast.

Where is this road? I want it in GT as soon as possible.

Someone needs to send this to Kaz so he can get onto it tomorrow.
Oh yeah, don't forget the car Kaz.

Thankyou so very much for posting this

Glad you like it. 👍 It's the Klausen Pass in Switzerland. Alongside Grand Prix races, the Silver Arrows also used to compete in several hillclimbs on roads like the Klausen Pass and Grossglockner Pass. I'm surprised PD didn't make something like those with the Matterhorn location.

And yes, the car is awesome as well. :D 354HP on skinny 1930s tires would be quite a different driving experience.

And to think this was tame compared to what was to come in a few short years....
These guys must've had daily injections of either bravery or fearless.

OP has been updated with background information, technical specifications, links to galleries at supercars.net & ultimatecarpage.com and other, more detailed articles.

Enjoy :)
