Good year for reborn MG

MG Rover Group has today published its UK sales performance for the month of October 2001:

October 2000 October 2001 Change
MG Rover Group 5,613 8,513 +51.7%

It's looking like a good year for the company with a spokesman commenting, "We have again achieved a good sales month but our focus remains on November and December to deliver a good full year performance."

I loved that site with those BMW's with the most stupid looking modifications:lol: What's really sad is that the people who have them modded think they look cool! There really sad looking:(

Those ppl that own those bmw's should be shot. What are they thinking, I know theyre imports, but they have taken the import mentality too much.

Dude, these figures are fine and all, but two issues:
- have they addressed quality issues (driven an MGF lately?)
- more importantly, are they making a quid?

That's not what worries me. I am wondering whether they are investing anything in a new product range. The 25 and 45 are ageing in the extreme (after all, the 45 is based on the last generation (2 box) Honda Civic). The MGF also has been around for years, and the 25 is good, although is in too competitive a market place to support longevity. The 75 is still plagued by reliability problems, and the MG ZT is just a tarted-up version that would be fit for Jimmy's site.

OMG, what a nasty-looking site! All those Lotus logos spinning really went for my eyes. And the "Theme from Miami Vice" playing in the background! You can really tell the page was last updated in 1999!

Still, some interesting stuff there though.

Did you know that Lotus stands for "Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious"?

:D

MGS FEATURE IN 'RACE DRIVER'

Two MGs to feature in Codemasters' new video game

MG is the latest star to appear in the new TOCA Race Driver game from Codemasters.

Currently in development for Playstation 2 and PC the game will feature two MG cars in its line up, the first being the MG ZS EX259. The MG competed in the last six rounds of the BTCC last season and achieved a pole position and registered its first podium finish when Anthony Reid won the sprint race in October. The car makes its full assault on the drivers’ and manufacturers’ title this year.

The second car to be featured is the road-going MG ZR. This ‘hot hatch’ launched in July 2001 will compete in a single make race day challenge.

The game, to be launched in June, will feature a total of 13 racing championships including the BTCC, DTM German Touring Car Championship and Avesco V8 Supercars and a total of 42 real cars and 38 international tracks.
