I was thinking exactly the same. Collateral was alright, but Heat is one of those landmark films in my book. I also agree with Anderton on "Manhunter". I didn't really care for it.live4speedI was pleasently suprised with Collateral, not as good as heat mind, but heat was superb.
Now, you are reading my mind. This has got to stop!live4speedI've got it on DVD, not watched it in a while, I'm ot doing anything tomorrow afternoon either, hmmmm, what to do.
"Heat" 2-Disc sounds really interesting. If you have time, I'd love to read a review of the DVD from you.spriteHi, I love Heat its a great movie and Collateral, i have heat on Special 2 disk DVD, and when they were shooting the last stand gunfight as they run from the bank, they were going to dub it with fake gun sounds like the rest of the film and like most other films, but when on the cutting room floor they herd the sound from the original soundtrack (recorded on location that day) and decided to use the actual sounds from the guns, which makes it one of the best guns fights of all times.
If you liked this you might want to check out Ronin as the gun and car scenes in that film are awsome too (unless you have seen it already).
a6m5I definitely have to watch it over the weekend, now. I'll be looking for Sagat look alike.

"Ronin" is an awesome film. Actually, I am a huge fan of John Frankenheimer, the director. Ronin was another film with a spectacular cast(maybe not Hollywoodwise). Robert De Niro, Jean Reno, Sean Bean, Stellan Skarsgard, Jonathan Pryce, Natascha McElhone. 👍
When I put together a 5.1 set, years ago, Heat was one of the first movie I tried out. Heat is one of the few movies that makes a great use of the digital surround sound. During the climax, with those jets taking off & landing? Just awesome!RevheadnzOh, the gunfire! Makes me want to go and buy some surround sound and crank it up to hear all the details of that scene.
Me, too. Mine has a trailer, and that's it.tabsI bought my copy of the DVD a while back so I obviously have the 1-disc version, but I'm so tempted to go pick up the 2-Disc Special Edition. I really want to check out those new Extra Features.
DTS is awesome. My very old Yamaha 5.1 is the only DTS decoding receiver I've ever owned, so I don't know about other digital receivers, but DTS sounds so much better than Dolby Digital 5.1.Anderton PrimeOh man, speaking of 5.1 channels, I've been trying to think of other scenes from other movies other than my Gladiator DVD to demonstrate my new surround sound system to friends with. That city shootout would be great, as would the final scene on the airfield. Only thing is I only have the old DVD, which is bare-bones. No DTS track on there, that's for sure!
I think it was better that way. It would of kind of defeated the purpose of getting them together if De Niro was to play a good guy and Al the bad guy. The characters they played fit them perfectly.TheCrackerHeat's a great film - despite Al Pacino playing Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro playing Robert DeNiro in the film.
