Michigan Central Station

I have absolutely no idea if this is in the right place or not but it seems to be the most off topic place I could find so here goes...

On 6/2 I have a layover at DTW and figure I can get about a 2.5hr window to do what I want. Michigan Central Station is about 20min away and have been thinking about renting a car to go see it quick in between flights.

Has anyone here been there? Is it worth the effort? Is it a safe veture for someone who is pretty passive by nature? I see it doesn't really look like you can get inside anymore but even seeing it from the outside would be kind of cool. I must admit I am a bit intrigued by the urban decay. Seems like something interesting to dust the old photo equipment off for.

Any advice?

i went twice in the last 2 years too visit the decay of detroit ,the area around central station hoy a lot ''safer'' by detroit standards lol , not sure about your car rental timing but its a really cool thing too see
