Apparently Microsoft is in talks/interested in purchasing Logitech... in the GT world, which can be very good or very bad...

1. Good means the Xbox360 would probably get a decent steering wheel.

2. Bad means Microsoft might want to halt or "sabotage" (wrong term here i know) logitech's clever and high performance wheels for the Sony audiance (read: ps3).

Hopefully, its only talks and not too much of this is actually going on...

Thoughts?

Hmm, interesting news but I don't think it would mean worse PS3 wheels because MS would most likely be in it for the money and they are not going to pass up the huge revenue that it generated by GT. Its more likely that the 360 will get a decent wheel and one that doesn't catch fire!

But who knows, personally I think Logitech is great as it is, MS could just ruin it!

There is a difference between "thinking of buying" and actually "buying".....

If this is the case, the close relationship PD had with Logicool will most likely end.

i dont think microsoft will buy it completely. maybe the rights. so that few wheels will be in racing games. but i bet you sony or PD will still use the GRAND logitech wheels :)

and besides, PD or sony ( who ever decides) allready made deals for Gran Turismo 5 wheel. and its only a word on the street, so its uncertain, and i bet you Sony can always make a bigger deal, since they have profits unlike Microsoft.

Microsoft is just "thinking of buying" Logitech as Rocket Punch already posted. It was good for the Logitech stock ;) but I really don't think that Logitech will sell itself to Microsoft. They are rivals to each other and Logitech is running good in the game. They make a lot of profit (I'm helping them since I use Logitech products :D (Mouse, Keyboard, Steering Wheel, Headset, ....) and there's no reason to give up their innovation by joining the Microsoft company.. But we live in a globalized world, anything can happen :indiff:

Micro$oft want to make money, so they'll carry on NOT making racing wheels for all formats.

I corrected it for you. Microsoft would probably focus 99% on making good wheels for XBOX 360. Sony might get left in the dust once again.:nervous:

Logitech would be smart to not sell out to Microsoft.

M$ has made massive profits & has massive cash reserves. Don't conflate xbox/xbox360 division, with M$ as a whole...

Sony could buy immersion and then MS had to pay license fees to Sony :)

Microsoft already has a stake in Immersion (but I'm not sure %).

Every piece of software sold that uses Immersion's patented technology (Dual Shock, Logitech FF wheels etc), part of those proceeds go straight into the Microsoft coffers.

im talking about microssoft as a whole... not just xbox division... seen the stocks... microsoft is goind down while sony had big points on positive

but that stocks can change in a dime ;) haha

Actually, Microsoft has a history of buying up competitors and destroying or eliminating their products. Halo is probably the best example (supposed to be a much better type of game, supposed to be available on Mac and Windows FIRST). Virtual PC is another example (killed off at the first chance they got once they owned it).

If they purchase Logitech it could well mean very very bad things for Playstation racing fans. I could just see the next great new Logitech Racing wheel for Playstation being all the leftover crappy wheels they are making currently for the X-Box. Have you ever used one of those things? What complete junk...

Then again if we are lucky it could mean nothing... We won't know until it actually happens.
