I see a lot of Cadillac Cien in it. That looks pretty good, for a render.

Also...these are interesting, that rear end and Corvette badge, WIDE tires....:

It could just as easily be a new Alpha prototype for the Camaro, ATS-V, or some kind of next-gen mule for the Chevrolet SS replacement. Again, I just don't see a mid-engine Corvette happening, ever.

But, both Koreas are in talks, the Royals are heading towards the World Series, and Twin Peaks is coming back. Weird things are happening.

Corvette Zora? Taking hints from Ferrari, are we?

Also, I can only imagine what the R&D team were saying when that mule was being frankensteined.

Tech 1: What are we gonna use to test these parts, we don't have a Corvette to use.

Tech 2: There has to be something in the lot that can be cut into.

New Guy: Hey, what's this Malibu supposed to be here for? Looks like the bumpers were left off for some reason.

Tech 2:.....(looking at Tech 1)...That should work.

I may be going crazy, but isn't that bumper from a facelifted Aston Martin Rapide?

If the answer is yes...

Why?

I highly doubt that it's a mid-engine Vette. It has regular plates on it not manufacturer plates and the plates are registered to a '13 Chevy Malibu.

From the Car & Driver article:

GM’s head of global product development, Mark Reuss, confirms that the company is working on the next Corvette.

That is the ONLY piece of evidence to emanate from GM itself. That article is absolutely wild, unfounded, and downright garbage speculation. I cannot believe C&D allowed that trash to be published.

No Corvette will EVER BE CALLED ZORA.

It's C&D, a publication only a few steps from pure promotion or tabloid, take your pick.

It's fun to think about...right up to the moment you realize this is GM, the company that cut so many corners the rounded-off mass rolled back on them.

The mule actually looks kinda cool like some freeky Zagato saloon creation

As for the name Zora, as if any US car would ever be called that. If they are going to fake stuff atleast make an effort.

I can it's called car and driver, the only other magazine worse and bias than it is MT at times.

I don't think C&D is that biased, just outspoken. MT is definitely biased. But I haven't read either of them regularly in a few years so that may have changed.

I also think that having a mid-engined, Corvette-based supercar is a great idea. But calling it a Corvette isn't. Call it a ZR1, that's fine, but a Corvette is a front-engine, rear-drive sports coupe for Everyman and that's just the way it is.

That said, I think the most important things that should be used from the Vette are the engine and transmission. If they really want to experiment with the funky rear spring then go ahead but they can't be sure it'll work in that application until they try it. Hell, it might be more easily damped with more weight over it anyway.

The cabin just screams Corvette. It does make sense that that mule is a Ute lookalike though- those truck panels will make it easier to get access to the critical drivetrain components. On the other hand, a MR Ute sold in the states would be really epic as well. Here's Car and Driver's article on this mule.

It looks like C&D (or whoever sold them the photos) are now using drones to photograph prototypes/mules within private property. Anyone else bothered by this? I wonder if that is Milford proving ground? That's just up the road from me....
