Is there a certain pack/client you use? As in YogsCast Complete Pack/ATLauncher; Hexxit/Technic; Moster/Feed The Beast.
I'd like to join you guys. Strictly survival or is everyone oped?

Just the standard launcher. All plugins are server side.

It's a survival server.

You're very welcome to join us. play.torinet.eu

...We could also go as far as building our very own 'spawn town' instead of relying on generic copy-and-paste spawn templates. 👍

I like this idea. Every server has a spawn entrance and with people from here we could build it in a day or two. With @DQuaN in command of course because it is his server.

I forget how to find out where the entire spawn area is in multiplayer, but try to find the blocks you spawn on so you can build a safe zone.

In singleplayer, your original spawn point is always one block. Multiplayer is different because you spawn in a grid (I believe it's 20x20).

DQuan on the Minecraft wiki it says the ocean monuments "Will also generate in old worlds", not entirely sure what they mean by that, however new chunks will doubtless be required for the new mineral seams. Not sure if rabbits will spawn in explored chunks, I seem to remember horses only appeared for me in unexplored/generated places when that update came in so perhaps a refresh is inevitable.

Although I believe the Highlands still has potential for some awesome builds.. I also support a total reset on the server. If it will help spark interest for people to come back on, or join the sever for the first time then I'm on board.

i gotta imagine that means in old worlds with unloaded chunks. Rabbits on the other hand would probably populate explored chunks since they would spawn in much the same manner as other mobs.

Have to say, as only a recent arrival to the server and currently unable to interact (computer problems), I don't stand to lose much with a full reset, so I'd be happy with that.

I also like the world border idea; I watch quite a few Lets Play series and the Mindcrack guys have recently done a similar thing that seems to be working really well.

Got into it via kurtjmac and the Far Lands or Bust series. I also watch a few of the Hermitcraft lot.

I enjoy Docm77's videos, but I occasionally watch Etho, Sethbling, and Vintagebeef. It's so much to watch though. o_o

So it seems that CityWorld is going to go. I'm happy to build our own spawn, I'm useless at building though so I'll supply a load of materials and let you all get on with it!

There is already a world border. Keeping it small may make things closer but it's also good to be able to explore a long way. I'm thinking maybe a 3000 block border.

I can also help, as long as I know what it looks like and I have the materials :) :P

Edit: Looks like we're too late. The spawn looks great, nice work @DQuaN!

Unlucky timing, a lightning recently roasted my graphics card... (and 2 phones, an answerphone, router, the HDMI port of my PS3 (no joke) and a few other things).

I'll have a look at how well the onboard graphics can run Minecraft though.

I got another friend hooked on this game last night.

Played for about 5 hours straight and made some excellent progress. He also found 8 diamonds in a mine, then a dungeon, then a jungle temple. The temple had 3 more diamonds. Overall it was a great first time experience for him. :D

Anyone know what has happened to the lightning in the game? I have not seen any in game lightning in months. Was it removed?

I've not had weather of any sort for a while, so I expect it's completely down to how the game feels at the time.

Funny you mention the temples, too. I've recently started a new seed on the PS3 version as I want to try out some new building styles and my previous seed didn't really suit it. Firstly, started in a great place - right on the coast, in a forest, lots of sheep about (for a bed on the first night), near a jungle with ocelots, and there are loads of wolves in the forest too.

Since I managed to get set up so quickly, I went exploring. The map contains loads of exposed lava, an example of every console biome (including the mushroom island), three villages (two of which have potatoes/carrots) and a desert temple. Also surrounded by sink holes and canyons with visible gold. Never had a seed with so much easily-accessible stuff before.

That sounds exactly how his seed started. The funny part is he put in "Jedi" for the seed name. haha It started just like yours. At the edge of a jungle and desert with LOTS of animals and near by water. Truly an excellent start.

The only negative that we found out later was the several mines he had near him were duds. So we explored further away and finally had some good luck.

We did have rain last night but honestly I don't think I have seen lightning in at least 6 or 7 months. Maybe even longer.

I had a pretty loud thunderstorm the other day, presumably comes with lightning but I was indoors. It was by far the loudest and most obnoxious storm I've experienced though. Next time I will go outside (and avoid creepers) as not seen lightning yet.

@DQuaN would it not be more worthwhile you starting the new world when the update actually rolls out? I thought that was kinda the idea?

It is. Nothing is happening until 1.8 comes out. I just wanted to get your opinions on what to do when it does.
