I'm of a completely different opinion: Good. Obviously I'm speaking from my own experience, but after purposely under-stocking the initial batch and killing any desire I had to buy one, I can't say that I care too much.
 
When they started under-producing it and letting it go for sale at 400$, it was pretty much over. It was cheaper to buy a used NES and lots of games in the first place, but they just killed it in the end.

Nintendo has announced that it is putting the NES Classic Mini back into production next year.

...In addition to this, the company has confirmed that more units of SNES Classic Edition will ship at launch in the U.S. than were shipped of NES Classic Edition for the entirety of last year, and additional shipments are due to arrive in stores on a regular basis.
