There's 10 or more 3000gts, a FWD 2gA eclipse, and a non turbo talon (wtf?) in the game...

This car can be a monster if built properly.

There's a lot of cars in the game that have never and will never see a race track. At least this has some kind of actual racing potential in it.

The Eclipse, and its DSM brethren, have seen competition in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events.

In 2009 and 2010, a convertible Eclipse GST driven by Matt Andrews and Andrew Brilliant won the Super Lap Battle Limited championship in Willow Springs, California.

In 2012, a heavily built and tuned Mitsubishi Eclipse piloted by Mark Rybníček won the Czech Hill Climb championship.

Brent Rau has won three world drag racing championships using an Eclipse; IDRC, NDRA and NHRA. Many other notable names have also claimed big wins piloting Eclipses for drag racing use.

In early GT titles, there seemed to be a pattern or reluctance to show models popular in the U.S. when they may have looked better than their comparable JDM counterparts. There was the IS300 with a 4-cylinder instead of the correct 6-cylinder in GT2 and etc. There was no Skip Barber Dodge Avenger Race Livery in GT2 despite Skip Barber being listed as a consultant in the ending credits. Little details like this make car guys happy.

My theory is they downplayed the Eclipse after the FTO was discontinued in Japan. Otherwise... why did it take 10 years for the year 2000 Eclipse to make it's way into the series when it should have been included in GT3? I think this helps explain absence of the hot Eclipses we all like and why they haven't had much presence within the GT series. I am glad they finally put some newer Eclipses in and hope they would add some of the old AWD versions soon also. They deserve to be in the game as much as pickup trucks.

P.S. Happy they corrected the crossed up names on the Silvia/240SX, would like to see more progress like this. 👍

I wouldn't think it was counterproductive to add the older models at this point because they do it with other cars like the previous generation Tiburon, etc. I don't see any base model Impreza or Lancer in the game, so why only base model Eclipses? Why not put a best foot forward and then decide if the base model are worthwhile to add, instead of the other way around?
