Mitsubishi EVO IX tune needed

Hey guys I really desperately need a good tune for this car.
GrandValleySpeedway.jpg

I use it quite alot and I have it geared to about 155mph but for that to benefit me I need it to handle and right now it handles like a total pig so any tune that will help me fly around the corners without huuuuuugeee understeer I would be very grateful :)

Also my prefered settings for this car are TCS 3, ABS 7, Racing Softs

Yeah, the Evo pushes hard in GT5, way harder than in previous games. This is about as close as I can get to neutral without resorting to extreme settings, which I don't like doing. Still not great, though. Tuned using a controller and no aids except ABS:1.

436 HP
1169 KG
Front splitter, no wing

Ride Height: 10/10
Spring Rate: 6.9/6.5
Damper Extension: 9/7
Damper Compression: 6/6
Anti-Roll Bars: 2/4
Camber: 2.4/1.6
Toe: -0.10/0.00

Transmission: 211 MPH

AYC: 130 (No LSD equipped)
Torque Split: 20/80

Brake Balance: 4/6

Nope that tune didn't work at all well for me mate I was near enough a second slower round Tsukuba with it best I managed was a 55.3

Id rate it low, No matter what you do or how you drive it still understeers going into and mid and exit of the turn no matter how fast you go :(

Bump, I need a radical solution someone please, Anything to stop this car from understeering like it does, Abit of oversteer would be perfect and if a radical tune makes it abit twitchy I don't mind as long as it kills that understeer somebody please :)

Long shot here, run the back end 10mm lower than the front, add maybe 1kg to the back to compensate, run about a 9 damper bound extension, 7 compression, anti roll 2 clicks from max; add about a 3 degree camber to the front end, and a 2 to the back, run 0/0.15 toe angle, and run the torque 20/80

Diff's I'm unsure of, try and tailor the diff around how the car acts.

Not 100% sure if this will work, but give it a go! Downforce should probably be maximum all round, breaks are upto you, I like to run about a 9/7 on most cars, without ABS, TCS or any other aids.

Seems like I have competition lol, I'm still sure with the right tune I could get a 50.0 with it though, And I cannot for the life of me take the corner before the tunnel on Trial Mountain with any speed at all it just washes out

That setup got me abit faster mate I got 3hundredth with it so my best now is 54.3, I would like to if possible get in to the 53s though :P

I think the only thing crippling this car is the Stock AYC setting. Putting the AYC all the way to 120-130 makes the car drive correctly. But, I also have my own tune that I use on a mostly stock Evo that gives me some good control (not sure how it would work with your higher powered models or with race tires):

AYC: 125 to 130
Center Diff: 27-75

Height F: -12, R: -18
Spring F: 3.8, R: 5.2
D-Ext F: 5, R 8
D-Com F: 4, R: 7
Anti-Roll F: 5, R: 7

Camber F: 2.0, R: 1.0
Toe F: 0, R: 0

I kinda borrowed the spring rates and ride height changes from Tein's S-Tech Spring specs, and the camber and toe are the real life "sports" alignment setting for the Evo IX. With this setup I can get sub 8 minute laps on the Ring without any power mods on sports medium tires.

Haven't tuned one in-game much as I switched to the HKS Evo, but I own an Evo 9 in real life and it does the same thing. It's supremely stable, but will shuffle sideways when you really nail it through a fast corner.

If you try to flick it slightly sideways, it does this weird little number where it's like the load is shifting in slow motion from front to rear. (it's actually the AYC working) Downforce isn't the answer, it seemed to respond much better once I had the diffs set up by a race tuner. I'll check on what settings he used and see if I can recreate it in-game.

Hmm, I've not actually done anything with the Evo IX but my road car testing with the Evo VII showed that while the factory center diff states it has a 30F/70R torque bias it does not act the same as the adjustable diff set to 30/70 at all.

It's slightly freer feeling and seems to send power where it's needed rather than a set bias (although under hard launches, my VII will actually light the front tires up; probably because power is raised more than grip is).

Here is my current tune, hope it helps!

Ran 1:09.595 on the Top Gear Test Track with bad driving lol

Thanks for bringing this up, ghostrider.
I have the same problem.
The stock EvoIX handles fine and there you really want the AYC set low at 30 or the car will just slide the back end unwanted when off throttle in a turn.
As soon as the car is upgraded it just wants to understeer under acceleration coming out of turns and cranking the AYC all the way up helps a tiny bit with the understeer. What gets rid of the understeer immediately is doing the race modification but if you don't want to do that I don't know what to tell you. I am waiting for a good tune for the upgraded car on the stock chassis myself.
I resorted to driving upgraded Sti's in the game, they accelerate out of turns beautifully and rotate nicely.
I think something is wrong with the Evos in the game and maybe a patch comes at some point to fix that.

Just for laughs, I'll make a "phone tune" for you to try. It'll either work well or be absolute crap.

Suspension:
Spring Rate: 12.5/5.2
Ride Height: -6/-20
Extension: 6/9
Compression: 4/7
Anti-roll: 2/6 or 1/7

Camber: 3.2/2.0
Toe: 0.05/-0.25

Both differentials should be the stock units.

AYC set to 90.

Thought I was the only one who felt this way, I ended up investing time in a STi as well. . . I tried to memic the one I have in real life

That's why I like to drive the EvoIX around. I have a 2006 SE. Somehow it's fun to drive your real car in the game. Also a good way to see if its realistic. Mine is stock and the stock Evos in the game drive like mine with just a tad bit too much understeer, but as soon as you mod them they understeer extreme under acceleration and I never heard of a real modded Evo to behave that way.
(Do you have an Evo or STi? I didn't quite get that, sorry. Is your's stock also?).
I am glad I am not alone with my in-game understeer issue :).

I also drive an Evo IRL. In the game it handled nearly the same stock, but when I added some more ponies it decided to have a mind of its own. I've tried some of the setups that people posted here and only managed to break a 59.xxx on Tsukuba. I'll play around with it a bit more and post results if they're any good haha.

I have a Subaru,... Took me awhile to get the Subaru in GT5 to handle well....

Just saw your car. Nice. My car is all stock and has the massive rear wing but I keep that too cause its all special and carbon and part of the SE, blah blah. *grumps* ;) (they did not have the RS for sale at that time, which comes without all that stuff. Only AC).

Anyway. The Sti in GT5 handled different from the real one also? They rotate so nice in the game. What was different?

i had the same problem. I'm currently using my Evo ix for 500pp race

set up:

stage 1 weight
carbon bonnet
rigidity improvement

sports ecu
stage 1 engine modification
engine power limiter 98.8% (slowly going down after every race i win im 1pp over limit :S)
sports intake manifold
race air filter

sports manifold
sports cat
racing exhaust

standard turbo

3rd gear 1.553
4th gear 1.211
5th gear 0.980
6th gear 0.795

Height F: -12, R: -18
Spring F: 3.8, R: 5.2
D-Ext F: 5, R 8
D-Com F: 4, R: 7
Anti-Roll F: 5, R: 7

Camber F: 2.0, R: 1.0

works for me, don't know if it'll work with higher state of tune

p.s writing this caused me to burn my pizza for lunch lol
