I have been waiting for this moment for months for the new update, it is an impressive mod, but I have a problem with the NTSC-U versions, in the rally events the cars behave very strange, in the first corner of the circuit they hit the wall and They start to run in very similar circles like the Tahiti Maze Peugeot 206 WRC bug (Excuse my English, I am Latin American and my English is rubbish)

Due to the way that Polyphony save the garage data, it gets broken any time that new cars or parts are added to the game, which is pretty frustrating, I know.
So, even loading garage data for trading would be useless, I take it?

At least the 'purchase whatever car you want from Used cars' GS codes still work (though in 4.1 one could not buy the Tuscan Speed Six this way).
Yes, I put together a demo save for the last version, and I'm planning to do the same for this one too.

Until then, I'm redoing my progress with licenses. Fun.

@RyanCooper96 Thanks for bringing this up. It led to me finding out one piece of the puzzle that is GT2's internal data and to find a way to fix your issue.
The problem comes from the fact that all 3 regions of GT2 use different Dirt tire compound settings.
I've shown before that NTSC-JP has much slidier physics for rally tires, well that's the issue. I basically just now found what file contained all the tire compound data, and i was able to port the JP behavior onto PAL as a test. It's an easy fix, and i'm sure pez will have it, and therefore the rally opponents, fixed at some point

EDIT: Here's a video where i put JP's rally physics on Super Soft compounds as an example :P

Damn, sorry, should have spotted that in testing. It looks like Submaniac has spotted the technical issue that's causing it, but unfortunately it won't be a quick fix.

Currently there's one version of the mod that is applied to all three regions, and to fix this there will need to be one version each instead. It's going to take a bit of time to redesign the way I build the mod, as it can't practically be done by hand due to the 20 different patches it's now having to build.

I thought I had applied the patch wrong, another bug that I have experienced is with surprise rally cars, for some reason they have all the tires fitted but parts like the custom suspension, differential, gearbox and brake adjustment are not in the car When you win it, you have to buy the pieces to adjust it and personalize it, I have been playing for hours looking for bugs but I think that until now I have not found another bug, thanks for reading my answers it is a pleasure to meet the geniuses behind this mod

After a very long journey, beta 5 is now complete and ready for download!

Highlights in this version are support for the Japanese and US releases of the game, support for the Arcade Mode disc in all regions, fixes to allow the mod to be run on a real Playstation, the addition of the Toyota Chaser LM Edition, and no less than fourteen Rally Cars that were previously only available in Arcade Mode can now be won as event prizes in GT Mode.

Apologies for how long it's taken - in order to support all ten GT2 game discs I needed to heavily rewrite a lot of my mod tools, remake large portions of the mod, and design an automated build process to make it feasible to assemble so many versions of the mod.

What's next? The mod isn't finished, but I'll probably take a little time to research some things to make more areas of the game modifiable, and possibly tackle a couple of side projects too, before commencing work on beta 6. I'll also be putting together a demo save for beta 5, like I did with alpha 4.1. Stay tuned!
Nice!

@RyanCooper96 The Rally Car parts isn't a bug. In GT2 you can make -any car but PD only used it on- Race Cars have all tires bought upon buying/winning them, but it doesn't take other parts into account. It's by design and not something we can edit i'm afraid.

@CaravanSS76 GT2 doesn't support forcing a specific color to be awarded as a prize, so it's impossible. In order to do what you're suggesting, the white ZZ-S (? are you thinking of an other car maybe? like the Tom's Angel T01's Silver?) would have to be made into its own entity, and since room is very very limited...

I have found another bug, in some cars especially the R34 V-spec the HP from the factory is 320 HP when it really should be 274 HP from the factory, and as a suggestion it would not be bad if the Xsara could modify it with NA parts respecting the version of rally, it's a stranger to have a turbo-aspirated Xsara kit car when the original car that competed in the 1999 WRC was naturally aspirated

Dealership vs owned car power is not a bug, never has been. It's by design as per Japan's Gentleman's Agreement back in the 90s where cars were to be limited to 280PS advertised, when in reality they usually made more when de-restricted.
Polyphony decided to go the route of, dealership shows a number, unrelated to the actual calculaions for a car's power, that displays dealership-advertised power for cars, and shows actual/de-restrcited power calculated from the data making up all the parts of a car when owned in your garage.

As for the Xsara, Pez only added in the beta RM for it, this is how PD designed the car to be tuned. I think it's not within what Pez wants GT2+ to be to change how the car can be tuned.

I understand, 15 years playing gran turismo 2 and I have not noticed those details in the HP, one last question, I hope you did not bother with so many questions but there will be some way to change the colors of the Suzuki Cappuccino, the color "antes red "It does not agree very well with the original color, it seems more orange or copper, I am sorry for making so many suggestions, I know that for you modifying each code and parameter of the game is an odyssey and my suggestions are not very helpful but there are great details of Gran turismo 2 that almost no one speaks

@pez2k Will you put racing suspension upgrade on the both road R390s? Is this a bug or intentional?

Good idea - I'd not noticed that they were missing it. Either it needs to be added as an upgrade, or the stock suspension needs to be tunable like the XJ220 and others, I'll see what fits best.

another bug that I have experienced is with surprise rally cars, for some reason they have all the tires fitted but parts like the custom suspension, differential, gearbox and brake adjustment are not in the car When you win it, you have to buy the pieces to adjust it and personalize it

Yes, this is how bad the Arcade disc rally cars actually are. They're the standard roadcars, with a racing modification and a few engine upgrades, but stock suspension, drivetrain and so on. Because they were so useless, I added those parts as upgrades so that you can at least make them as good as the normal car they're based on. All of the tyres come with them for free though because winning a rally car with no dirt tyres seemed a bit cruel!

I hope you did not bother with so many questions but there will be some way to change the colors of the Suzuki Cappuccino, the color "antes red "It does not agree very well with the original color, it seems more orange or copper

Quite a few cars have really bad colours, for example the Ford Cougar or the Vauxhall Vectra. I'm generally fixing them if there's another version of the car to take a more correct colour from, but accurately recolouring all of the cars that are wrong is time-consuming and a little outside of my artistic ability. For that reason, most are probably not going to get fixed any time soon.

(Can't the ZZ-S be purchased directly from the dealer?)

I tried importing cars from the a4.1 savegame, and whilst I was able to...
I tried to use one and it would not steer. Definitely borked.

It also imported incorrect data on one car that I was able to notice; the Stratos being FF for drivetrain...lolz

So, I take it that winning the Trackmania Rally Races is how we unlock the newly added Arcade Rally Cars.
I'll grab those later; still trying to regain lost progress, and just got S-license, going for gold on all of them. Again. lolz

Do the dealership events for Opel and Vauxhall actually care if you enter a car from the other brand?

Do the dealership events for Opel and Vauxhall actually care if you enter a car from the other brand?

They do afaik

Yup, traded cars are bascially garage cars, with saved part IDs and all that. And the game doesn't update the parts upon buying them.

Most of the new prize cars you can determine where they're won with some logic (and pupik's GT2 spot can help for a particular one)

Do the dealership events for Opel and Vauxhall actually care if you enter a car from the other brand?

Yep, you have to have specifically the right brand to enter. PD were actually very thorough in splitting up Opel and Vauxhall, to the point where race 1 of the UK Nationals only has three possible opponents if Vauxhalls aren't allowed to appear. Their only mistake was allowing Vauxhalls to show up in the German Nationals in PAL English.

I'm sorry if this is buried somewhere else in the thread but on the subject of the new prize cars, into which events have they been added? Are they the only prize car for that event or will it be easy to miss because from a 50/50 you might still win the original prize car?

Other than that, superb work. Really well done and much appreciated.

The prize cars haven't been told, mainly to keep a little sense of wonder, but trust me, if you think about it for a few seconds, you'll know exactly where 90% of them are. Just remember that every race can award cars, even though PD never awarded any in some. 2 cars can be determined by using Pupik's GT2 Spot's prize car list.
Pez only put single prizes, so there isn't a chance you'll have to repeat events to get them. Only to get the alternate colors if you wish to.

I don't post a public prize car list to emulate the mystery of 1999 when nobody knew how to win certain cars and every prize was a surprise. Send me a PM if you want the list though, I have no problem giving it out.

That's fair.

Are they the only prize cars for their events or is it multiple choice? Just so I know if I need to repeat events if I miss them the first time.

As i said above, they're single. You won't have to repeat races besides if you want to get all the colors of a certain car.

hello pez2k, i've downloaded and installed NTSC-U v1.0 version on the arcade disc, the work is very well done, but there is something I don't like in the mod, it is the change of the intro, when i install the mod it installs the intro of v1.2 version and removes the intro of v1.0 version

Yes, the US version of GT2+ is based on v1.2, because it has various bugfixes that earlier builds didn't. PD also restructured various parts of the game in JP 1.1, US 1.2 and PAL to be more similar, which allows me to use the PAL game data with all three regions' executables as a consistent base.

I provide all of those patches because I don't expect everyone to own a specific release of the game, but in all three regions it will always apply all updates from Polyphony first. Regardless of which original disc was used, GT2+ is always one consistent version per region.

Nothing big to point out, but I just realized. Since you can buy the CLK Race Car in this mod without cheats, you can use that to 'cheat' in events like other race cars.
GT2 Plus - CLK Race Car.png

Seriously, with 443hp; it can be allowed in races like the Grand Touring Car Trophy or the 3rd German national races to scorch the competition with no effort. Oh, I will have some fun with future playthroughs doing this. :P

I love it!
