Use a very sharp knife (X-Acto or similar) or single-edge razor to trim ALL of the clear from the edges of those decals before you wet them, on a cutting board. Of course, use care that you don't trim actual decal. :)

Yeah, I've been using X-Acto, and over cardboard, does the same effect! :D And thanks for the advice!

And replace the cardboard often. Encountering a cut in your board can deflect your knife.

On those decals, do them one at a time. Don't put 3 or 4 of them in the water and then wonder why they all rolled up against the edge of the bowl and stuck to each other.

Keep up the good work ,she's looking really nice.
I've done 20+ models and IMO you cant beat tamiya, there are so well detailed. They are even making die cast parts for them now that you can get as extras.
Keep the photos coming.
Practice makes perfect :)

I'm sorry everyone following this thread, I only restarted the work today, as only yesterday the inks came... Anyways, made some progress in the car, driver's seat, seat belts, fire extinguisher, vinyl tubes and so on!

Here you go, some pics:

This ends the first (cockpit) part, and the engine work starts now!
I'll post some more pics later!

Tamiya puts oil and water lines on their big scale F-1 kits, as well as fuel injection and ignition lines, which will be coming up later.

Have a look here at my 312T (earlier version of the same car):

During assembly, those tubes are sometimes placed at one end, way before the stuff for the other end is done. If you waited, the one end might be completely inaccessible.

Wow, the car's details are making my eyes feeling dizzy
👍

Well, one year went past really quick! Meanwhile I went on vacation and never came to my mind to post the final pictures of the car, which was finished shortly after!
The car came out great, but those decals (as they were +- 30 yeras old) gave me some real bad headaches, and some came out, not that perfect, but hardly noticeable!

I believe I was finishing the engine!

Here, the driver's seat and partial cockpit, not yet assembled to the engine, it was just to see how it would look like!:

Assembly finished, but no decals yet! This was a really good looking car!

I managed to finish the assembly on the night of my last vacation day!
A quite heroic effort (hehe), as this car was my big summer project! And I wasn't taking it on trips, to prevent unnecessary risks of damage or all sorts of trouble!

And one or two weeks later, the car was all decaled(?) !

(These white line decals gave me the worst time! That's why, on the left side it didn't come out right, as that final bit of decal broke! But generally looking at the car, looks nice!)

When I built kits, I could never be bothered to put in all the detail that you have. Great stuff. 👍

It was my first time in such a detailed model kit! Had a lot of time to spend, and the more time you spend and the better it looks, the better you enjoy it! Hehe Thank you! :sly:

You have to understand that the stuff on these kits is not extra stuff that the builder adds from scratch. It's part of the kit!
