just kidding..... What Video card is driving the three monitors?

Well the center one I nearly three years old. I bought the two black ones later on (: They are identical except in age and plastic color.

I am using an AGP GeForce 256 which has 32mb of SDRAM and two PCI GeForce 4 MX 32mb DDR cards. The center is of course the AGP card which smack the heck out of the other two even though they're newer. Also because games launch on the center screen.

The Parhelia is an interesting card, but at $600 isn't quite what I had in mind. I love Matrox though - it's an awesome company. The Parhelia 256 or whatever it was would be nice because I wouldn't have to worry about video on my PCI bus. However, it doesn't hit the resolution I wanted out of my monitors. I currently get 1600 x 1200 x 3 = 4800 x 1200. The Matrox does 3840 x 1024 with three monitors - not what I had in mind.

I also own an AGP Matrox G450 32mb card with dual VGA out. It's actually really nice - I enjoyed the time I was using it. Additionally I have a PCI GeForce 2 MX 440 with 64mb of ram. It couldn't push 1600 x 1200 on each display, though, so I didn't care for it for my purposes. It's a good card at lower resolution though.

I've decided that using independant cards makes more sense for me, because at some point I'd like to upgrade my gaming card and I wouldn't want to have to replace an expensive Matrox card just to get one monitor to perform better. This way I can drop in the top of the line AGP gaming card whenever I feel like it.

Here's the beastie, if anyone's interested:

17" Samsung SyncMaster 753DF.

One of the best 17s I've ever used. Flat tube, really bright. Excellent monitor.
