My thoughts on the event:

First off I'd like to start with an apology to PatriotsfanX for accidentally hitting him. To the question "why did you hit me" I replied "you hit me first" and that is not what I meant. What I wanted to say was "I should ask you the same question." No matter, I enjoyed racing against you very much and the 1v1 part against you was the most enjoyable part of the race.

Secondly - the cars. It was funny how the race turned into two races - a Scirocco cup and a race between the rest of us. Did I say funny? What I meant to say was sad. I don't find it fair to use a DLC car that is obviously faster by a magnitude. Yeah, sure you can say that "we paid real money for it and it is our absolute right to use them." Well picture this - what if it is impossible for you to buy DLC content because of where you live. Sure I'd buy the scirocco, but Sony has made it nearly impossible for me.

Thridly - the stream. I'm kind of missing the point here. You can not force us to stream your commentary. First off the video is very laggy and freezes for 5 or so seconds every 10 seconds. Secondly the commentary is absolutely unnecessary there and it reaches me with a 32 second delay. Why not use the in-game voice communications? That way we can mute the people we don't want to hear and listen to people who actually give out necessary info. Maybe, I'm not sure, but just maybe if people weren't forced to watch your stream during the race we would have a lot less disconnections.

Fourth - the qualifying. Reversed grid start? For more than once I thought about pulling a "Schumacher" and just stopping on the track in order to fall to the last place and therefore gaining the pole position.

Fifth - safety car. Well that was totally unnecessary, don't you agree? Although it was fun driving in a single line behind it, it actually caused more trouble than did any good in my opinion. We should just turn off mechanical damage, or leave it on light and leave out the safety car so more people could race.

I can't say that it was a fun race and IMO the event was a failure. Gladly I'd like to participate in this crew's next races. The Tsukuba event was just mad fun. But Luka said he has a whole list of people in his head who he is banning from racing, I just hope I'm not one of them.

Why on earth did you sign up kaupmees since he never turned up? That was a waste of a slot on the sign ups.

He told me he couldn't come an hour before the event. He did take part in the practice the night before though...
It doesn't matter now, does it. It's not like the server was full or anything.

That's because of people signing up that don't show up just like him, you should have said something if he wasn't going to show.

I do believe you have good points, but I never FORCED anyone to watch my stream. I've made it a rule to be in my stream's chat room, which would not benefit me in anyway in terms of publicity or even count as a viewer below the stream windows itself if you've popped-out the chat room. I don't even know who I'm talking to right NOW, because your username is obviously different from what appears in the game.

Something else I've got to say is: if you had a problem with some of the rules, why didn't you say anything to me about it out of the 4 practice sessions that we've had? The reverse grid order start was an attempt to get a closer race going at the start since the faster drivers would have to battle each other to get passed first. It didn't even work correctly for anyone - I was first in the previous race and started in the middle vs. the back.

About that stream - yeah, that 32 second delay that you mentioned, and the lag, none of that was there for me through the practice sessions or through the race. Assuming you are Daskarl, since the other person didn't show up, you cannot blame me for your disconnections due to watching a stream because that was never the requirement. Your connection was unstable no matter when you were in a game with us.

The commentary. Yeah, you were right, you missed the point entirely there. The whole idea was to try to make into a miniature live television program held within GT5. The live stream was the TV, the drivers were the drivers - completely separate. I regularly stream on weekdays with commentary with the same people and have built an entire community surrounding just the broadcast where there are loads of regulars that have been watching for almost 2 years now. Streaming the event was a good opportunity to have something a little different from the norm and was loads of fun for me, Dov & Tony in our Skype call.

If you really were disappointed with the event, that's a shame. Because although I do agree it was not as good as the Tsukuba race, it was not a complete failure as you said it was. What really harms the event are the people in it, not a list of rules that you clearly didn't read, not an unstable connection or anything else.

I would just like to comment on the 'points' atleet made in his post.

Cars: It's unfortunate that you are unable to get the Scirocco, but you can't expect us to know that if you don't say anything about it. Furthermore, those cars went fast because we tuned them to go faster (which was perfectly legal), there's no stopping you from tuning another car to go just as quick, or quicker even, it's not impossible, it's probably not even that difficult.

The Stream: At no point were you "forced" to watch the stream, all that was said is that you need to be in the chatroom, you don't have to watch the stream (you know there's a pause button right?) Any important information regarding the race was either typed into the TwitchTV chatroom or the GT5 chat, so you could have easily just paused the stream. It's not our fault your connection isn't good enough to handle the stream and the game (from the sound of it you couldn't even handle the stream).

Qualifying: The benefits of starting on pole in a race like this one is debatable, sure in F1 for instance it's a massive advantage but in this race it isn't. Personally I would argue it as a disadvantage, going into the first corner you have a good chance of being rear-ended by a driver behind. Being at the back you have a bit more room and it's not difficult to overtake. Me, Luka and SilverArrow all started towards the back yet we were able to get to the front within a couple of laps. Slipstreaming made this even easier as well so all in all I preferred starting at the back.

Safety car: This was more of an experiment, to see if it could work, and it was a lot of fun. It didn't work as smoothly as intended but I think it is something that could work. The safety car also gave those a chance for those stuck far behind to catch up and get back into the race, and it gives those who were damaged through no fault of their own a chance to pit for repairs and get back into the thick of the action. The point of having damage in the first place is to make everyone drive with a certain amount of caution, being careful not to colide with other drivers and ruin their race, it also adds more realism to the race.

One final point I would like to make is, if you had these issues during the the event, SPEAK UP AT THE TIME. There really is no point coming on here and complaining afterwards when nothing can be done about it.

Just throwing in my 0.0125311 pence ;)

Yeah, with the Tsukuba event you proved that you can oragnize a really great event so I'm certain you're capable of doing it again in the future. Of course I can't blame you for the disconnections. Remember - I even mentioned that I made two separate connections - via Mobile 3G for the Stream and by Broadband for the actual racing. I understand the conecpt of a miniature TV programme, that is excecuted well. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear again but what I wanted to ask was can we have like an ingame voice chat between the drivers and for example you or a coordinator. The stream commentary is not a good way for communication between you and the racers (not to mention between the racers themselves).

But still looking forward to the next event!

(Btw, yeah I'm DasKarl420, you can see my PSN tag under my username If I'm not mistaken.)

I don't think you're getting it... the stream was not for communicating between racers. It was just for covering the event. The GT5 and stream chat rooms, however, are for communication. They're both listed in the event details as a requirement, stating that you must pay attention to both at all times. We decided not to go with GT5 voice because (1) Not everyone has a microphone (2) it is unnecessary bandwidth being wasted on talking when we want an overall more stable connection and (3) it takes away from the realism and removes driver skill and excitement.
